Culture - SWIM needs social advice

So yesterday swim found herself in a very bad situation, and thought she was going to be seriously injured or worse.

Swim was in a NE coast city and went up to a group of musicians asking if they knew where swim could find a smoke.

After some shady conversations amongst themselves swim wondered what would happen, hypothetically, if she asked one about the location of some blotter.

swim thought one of them might know since he said he was from the west coast.

two hours later thought all swim had was empty promises, a few hundred dollars less in the bank, and fear that a really angry, obviously drunk and then some, west coaster was going to hurt swim. swim eventually found an opportunity to run away and made it home safe.



This scared swim and would like to avoid this kind of confrontation in the future. But swim is very interested in researching the effects of lsd. Swim doesn't know anyone who has researched it before (other than swim's parents years ago) and doesn't know where she could find someone with a similar research-oriented mind in her area.

Are there any suggestions for what swim could do in the future to stay safe?

swim should clarify. swim does not want to know where or how to get anything. swim just wants to find others who are interested in current research (which does not involve using)
