Do DR's use a code for drug seekers?

SWIM asked her dentist to prescribe Vicodin after a dental procedure that really didn't hurt, and she does this every time she goes to his office.

He gets mad but prescribes Vicoden 5mg anyway. He only prescribed 18 pills, which SWIM thought was an odd number and what was his reasoning???? Why not an even round number like 20 or even 15 would make better sense than 18.

After thinking about this, SWIM came to the conclusion that maybe doctors/dentist and the like have an inside code to alarm the pharmacy of a drug seeker.

Does anyone know about this?

Dental procedures pain often only lasts 3 or 4 days. 18 makes sense.

Doctors generally divide the number of days by the number of pills. For instance, 6 a day for 3 days, or 3 a day for 6 days.
