hydrocodone prescription

I broke my clavicle recently and was prescribed hydrocodone/APAP 7.5/750 mg (M360) for my pain. I have been taking one every four hours as prescribed and it doesn't seem to be helping with the pain AT ALL. How many is safe to take to ease my pain but not get too high?

The APAP is what you have to keep a close eye on. Do not ever go over the 4000mg limit in a day. 6 of your pills will put you at 4500 - this can really mess you up.

If I were you id call my doc and tell them you need something stronger. Ive heard people on here say you cant take over 1 gram at a single time but i dont trust that. The rule of thumb is not to go over 4000mg/4grams in a 24 hour period if youre using it for chronic pain or over a prolonged period of time. 6 grams a day for 2 days if youve been taking paracetamol over a long period of time can result in death.

Definitely ask for something stronger, but recommend taking 2 every 4 hours, and if that doesnt work 3 the next time, but wait it out til next dosage time for sure.
The effects will last longer if you take it all at once instead of adding according to "taste" thats how you'll end up in trouble.

And the 750 mg is the worst part of it, BUT since you are using it for an injury, you will not DIE if you take 6 in one shot (NOT SUGGESTING IT, at least right away). Your body would reject that much Tylenol, and make you yack without a doubt. well, unless you have a tolerance for it, which by the sounds of it you dont.

Pretty safe stuff short term use. As long as thats ALL you are taking.

It should be relatively safe in the short term as long as used as directed.If it doesn't work ask for something stronger,this shouldn't be too difficult as long as swiy acts truly concerned about taking acetaminophen products and doesn't seem to be drug seeking and genuinely lets the Dr. know the hydrocodone isn't working for the pain.

SWIM has taken a max of 12 vics at one time, and never experienced a problem. this is not recommended however.

Ya ive taken doses of over 2 grams of paracetamol at one time over 3 times a day off and on for years about 2 times a month and have had liver function tests and never have had any problems.

As others have suggested ask swiy's doctor for something stronger. Perhaps oxycodone/apap would be in order.
