Setting - Ideal group size for a first time LSD trip?

Hey,
Swim has heard a lot of talk about group size when taking lsd and that a small group of close, trusted friends is ideal. Swim was wondering the following things.

How many, number wise would be ideal for a first time user.

Is it really critical to have a small group? Swim has quite a large group of friends and he usually spends most of his free time with all of them but feels he has a very deep trust with all of them.

There are a few questions SWIY needs to ask him/herself:
Will SWIM be comfortable with these people for the duration of the trip?
Does SWIM enjoy psychedelics with others around, or does he prefer alone time? (Others can potentially be distracting in such a state)
Will SWIM be overwhelmed with too many people around?

For SWIM, he finds that a few people are just the right amount. As numbers build, more distractions can take place, and he really loves being able to think clearly with psychedelics. Also, with more people there is increased potential for one to have a bit of a freak-out, which can easily impact SWIY's trip. Lastly, if this is SWIY's first time with LSD, he should have the option of either being able to stay with the large group, or if he so chooses, to leave and spend time with maybe a few, or just one sober sitter to keep him comfortable.

Swim would say 4-5 people is a good amount. Anything like 15-20 and his head would explode with constant confusion and thought interruptions.

At least 3. A couple of people could find themselves turning each other mad.

SWIM's first psychedelic experience involved about 11 different people tripping and interacting with a group of friends nearing about 17 people. It was great for SWIM because the variety of different backgrounds brought tons of unique information that comforted SWIM even after they realized the chemical wasn't acid but DOB. Best experience ever, just make sure everyone is really close.

Just wanted to say thanks for your guys information as it has helped a great deal, Swim plans his first time with LSD to be with his two best mates, one of them as a spotter as he really trusts his judgment on situations when things can go out of control.

Sounds like a good plan. To SWIM, the 'golden' range for this kind of stuff (common psychedelics in a general sense, not just acid) definitely seems to be 3-5 people. Small enough to really bond with one's fellow trippers but large enough to feel reassured by other people going through the same things as you. Plus plenty of antics to keep one entertained. Good times.

Bigger and, in my opinion, you're starting to talk about a tripping party (even though six folks don't normally constitute a 'party') or whatever one wants to call it. Which is cool if you're taking lighter doses and in search for a more recreational aspect to your substance. But SWIM isn't sure if he'd really ever want to go off the deep-end around that many people who are also all going off the deep-end too...

Smaller, and you're also talking about a different experience. Two is definitely very personal and likely to provoke meaningful conversation and a strengthening of friendship. SWIM for one has yet to venture into the solo aspect of things, but many people swear by it. Though such people seem to agree its not for the first-timer, and I can definitely understand that.

SWIM's 1st time was 5 people. Though he was in such awe of what he was experiencing that he barely even noticed they were there most of the time, heh. If anything, they were most helpful in allaying his lingering doubts before dosing.
