underage scheme

swim is 19 and the last 3 times he has stolen alcohol from the drug store he was chased by loss prevention. this last time swim almost didnt get away( they actually got hold of swim and attempted to wrestle him to the ground..talk about a reality check) and now hes scared straight from stealing it. so he was thinking what if he just went in and got the handle and put a $20 on the counter and then run off? it seems like a win win situation for swim and the store. what could/would they do? its not shoplifting because the item was paid for and then some because swim wouldnt be there to collect the change. the 21+ crowd will probably look down on this idea but just think back to when you were 19 and wanted a drink. also isnt it crazy that swim could be shipped off to iraq to kill people but he cant have a few shots?

Re: underage scheme

SWIM never had a problem appearing to be of age. Then again SWIM was in NYC and not sure how much integrity shop owners have in california. SWIM jst played it cool and purchased a small amount of liquor.

And if SWIY were to enlist in the army then SWIY is allowed to consume alcohol legally prior to leaving for basic training...it's a really fucked up rule.

Re: underage scheme

yes swim would have to agree with you there. here in oz the legal age is 18, the same as when your officially classed as an adult. the states can be so backwards somtimes, no offence intended. doesnt swiy have mates of legal age?

Re: underage scheme

They could still say you stole it. I mean, there was no real documented transaction, you would technically just be leaving an object (money) there prior to stealing the liquor.
Perhaps you could find a 21 year old friend, rather than spending a night in a jail cell (that is never fun...) for petit larcony.
Hell, SWIM has heard of people even legally buying vanilla extracts and whatnot at the grocery store, which is something like 99% alcohol. I would, of course, look up this information first. I doubt it would be very pleasant to drink.

But really, from SWIMs own experience, he says its really not worth it to steal little things like this to risk getting arrested and possibly spending a night in the slammer.
It's happened to SWIM too many times when he was younger... especially now that pretty much all stores have crazy high tech surveillance, aside from mom and pop places (I guess liquor stores don't count here, just sayin..)
Anyway, SWIM would just say to find a friend, or a legal way to buy it (or take up a hobby in brewing beer or soemthing). It's not worth the hassle of court and all that jazz.

A really good friend of mine started making his own wine and hard lemonade when he was 18. He looked it up and explained to me once that you only need to be 18 to make wine or beer, but you can't legally consume it until 21, or sell it without a liquor license. It might be different depending on the state.

Though he made it in a dorm room, which wasn't allowed, and he sold a ton of it, it was really good -- a lot of college students liked it, at least.

But it is a hobby and takes both work and time... I can't think of a time before turning 21 where it would've been too much trouble to get someone of age to buy alcohol if I wanted (not that I enlisted such a service, of course, that would be illegal)...

Re: underage scheme

yes making your own wine is easy,i even make my own hard lemonade.

5 gallons of water,5 packets of yeast and 5 pounds of suger mixed in with 5 frozen lemonaid concentrates. let it sit for a month in a bucket with a tube comming out bubbling in a cup of water,so the c02 gets out but no air gets in. and youll have some wonderfull hard lemonaid!

Ive always wondered about putting the money down and walking away,i dont carry/own any form of ID so buying alcohol can be hard sometimes.

someone might notice the random banknote and nab it. Overall alcohol isn't something I've coveted at all.

Re: underage scheme

When swim was underage, getting alcohol was never a problem. One would simply know the right places to go to. Alternatively, the "shoulder tap" has worked famously.

"Excuse me sir, you wouldn't mind buying my mates and I a few brews, would you?"

Once, a kind fellow even covered the change swim was missing. He told swim he was just happy to be of help. Of course, one should be very careful who one asks. A former girlfriend once spent a night in jail for propositioning a cop.

Re: underage scheme

SWIM used to do that as well. But be careful, once SWIM asked the wrong dude, gave him $20, and he just took off in his friends car. He seemed real nice, too..
Be careful!

Re: underage scheme

Can't believe you'd steal just for a drink.

I used to make my own beer and wine and it was great. OK it didn't taste as good as commercial wine (although the beer was possibly better!), but i used to make gallons at a time, and i must say i was a popular kid!

So you need to look ahead a month but once you get a production line running, it's there on tap.

As the actual ingredients contain no alcohol when you buy them, there shouldn't be any problems buying it whatever age you are.

And if you're worried about your parents knowing you are brewing, just imagine how much worse it will be when you are (and you will be) eventually caught stealing booze.

Leaving a note on the counter and running away is still stealing and if you are caught you will still be arrested.

If you want any tips on wine making, pm me.
