Light Headed / Head rushes

Swim had a really bad experience after completely over doing it on a gram of mdma in January. Swim has not touched class a's since then until last night.

When rolling on mdma swim likes to smoke weed, but has vowed never to do this again because it caused them to get dizzy spells / head rushes and temporary loss of vision. - Also known as Orthostatic Hypotension (or Postural Hypotension) Swim has researched this and the cause is apprently due to low blood pressure and lack of oxygen to the brain upon standing. (Swim had to sit down everytime she attempted to stand up).

Swim went to a party yesterday and had less than a gram of mdma (probably closer to a quarter gram) during 1am and 7am. Swim has vowed to be very sensible with her limits and has agreed to never lose self control since her episode in January. Swim was given a small line of ketamine at the start of the night and was very sensible. Swim felt complete awareness of her surroundings, but near 8-9am swim began to get head rushes!! Like a mild experience to her experience of over indulgence, but she knew what she was doing, was capable of talking... just couldn't stand up.

Swim is wandering why it is happening and has researched all over the internet for signs of others who get this reaction, but no luck. Before January swim had never had problems with dizzy spells in terms of rolling, but since she didn't leave the party until noon, she believes it could have been lack of sleep??? Or maybe lack of food/energy?! Swim has had 3-4 moments of light-headedness today and is taking it easy.

Does anybody know what is happening?

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

SWIM has low blood pressure and suffers from those sorts of head rushes all the time sober or under any condition. Therefore he has never been able to distinguish if substances made things worse or not.

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

Should swim be worried? Swim gets head rushes from smoking weed on its own, but never does that anymore. Rarely get head rushes any other time, but also forgot to mention that the headrush yesterday was quite strange. rather than blacked out vision, it was bright and according to swims friend, swim was shaking a little bit. within seconds of sitting down, swim was back to 'reality' again. :S

no record of low blood pressure , and had my blood pressure checked last month.

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

SWIY could always get it checked out by a physician. SWIM has been putting off getting that checked out among other things. It never has worried SWIM enough to think of it as something serious. SWIM wouldn't want his possibly poor judgment to affect someone else so he would advise SWIY to get it checked out depending on how much it affects SWIY's mental well-being.

Swim fears of telling the truth as it would need to be told, for them to test it properly :/

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

Just explain the stress these headrushes put SWIY through and as a preventative caution SWIY wanted an educated opinion about them. If they're a common occurrence and such...

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

sensual88, swim is having the same problem, but when he sober - not on pills.
it happened last week when swim over indulged() and everything was ok, a couple of days later he was getting random moments of dizziness/light headed/weird(blurred) vision.. it's still happening now although not as bad as the initial dizziness, so im hoping he will be ok.
swim says he's just gonna drop a few and hope the ecstasy will medicate it! lol

yeah swim mean't the same. it's when the party is over o.o I don't think it's safe for swiy to roll again so soon if swiy is still feeling ill.

Swim woke up today with a throbbing headache and keeps getting them

was swiy sure to drink a reasonable amount of water and/or was swiy exerting oneself during the roll? this is just about exactly what happens to swim any time he has gotten too dehydrated from dancing at shows (although its never happened to him on MDMA). he gets light headed and everything gets very bright (this happened a few weeks ago at a music festival and everything in his vision got so bright that he could barely see), but as soon as he sits down for a minute or two and gets some water in his system hes fine. so that kind of sounds like dehydration but swim supposes it could be a handful of other things as well, if it is a continuing problem swiy should get it checked out. there is such thing as doctor/patient confidentiality, you shouldnt have any real reason to worry about telling your doctor about past drug use.

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

It sounds like swiy is suffering from anxiety. Swim used to suffer from it whenever he smoked weed, when he started to walk after a spliff he would start shaking then go really dizzy, loose all coordination and he either fall over or had to stand still until it went away. Its like the world suddenly starts spinning around you.
Swim thinks swiy is getting anxiety attacks because of her bad experience, because swiy is trying to prevent an experience like that from happening again, so she's constently trying to stay "normal" and always thinking of it so it dont happen again.
The more you think of it, the worse it will get, Swim got so bad that it affected every aspect of his life at one point (sobar or high). He got it when going for job interviews, going to college, chillin with friends. He even had to take a tranquilizer to stop it from happening when he took his driving test. He couldnt really tell anyone about it, because no one understood what he was going through.
Anxiety is purely a psychological condition, if you think your gonna go dizzy, you will, if you dont think about it then it wont happen, the problem swim had is that you cant just forget about things. Weed makes it worse because it makes you paranoid about it happening.
Here are the threads that swim has posted in when he had anxiety:

Re: Light Headed / Head rushes

VitaminK22, this sounds very plausible.

Since it was swims first time in 2 months, despite the fact that she took it easy, you are right, she was very anxious about it all happening again, and swim did start thinking all about it in the morning.

Swim believes that when she over exerted herself two months ago, it could have possibly left a damaging effect. she's decided the magic is lost with mdma now and doesn't feel any 'want' to do it anymore (which is probably better) since the come down is far too hard. In response to another question, swim had kept fully dehydrated and was sat down the whole night, not exerting herself by dancing.

(Still waking up with a few pulsating headaches. eek)
