Question Selegiline and Kratom: Contra-indications?

Hi all,

quick question:

is it ok to take selegiline whilst taking kjratom?

I'm far from a psychopharmalogical genius, but I remember reading something about Kratom and MAOI and Deprenyl and MAOIs...

I have nasty ADD, used to take Amps for them but they made me too edgy, so I'm thinking perhaps liquid Selegiline citrate might be a good chemical to try....

Thanks!!!

Re: Selegiline and Kratom: Contra-indications?

Taken from Daniel Siebert and "Sage Student"'s The Kratom User's Guide:

Quote:
Can kratom be combined safely with other substances?
In general, combining drugs can be risky. We recommend that kratom not be combined with yohimbine, cocaine, amphetamine-like drugs, or large doses of caffeine, because of the possibility of over-stimulation or increased blood pressure....

...We recommended that kratom not be combined with Syrian rue, Banesteriopsis caapi, or any other MAO inhibitor drug. Serious, even fatal, reactions can occur if MAO inhibitor drugs are combined with monoamine drugs. The combination of MAO inhibitor drugs with kratom, which contains monoamine alkaloids, has not been studied.
Selegiline is not only a selective MAO-B inhibitor, but also is metabolized to l-amphetamine and l-methamphetamine. So this combination would probably be a very bad idea.

Re: Selegiline and Kratom: Contra-indications?

Thanks man.

I've been searching more and more, and while I haven't yet found a definite answer (ie published etc...) I found a post on the old avany message board in which a guy says he's taken them at the same time without any deleterious efects....
So, SWIM is going to research more and try it out (probably)

Well, it is still ill-advised based on one person saying its okay, but if you insist on doing it, start with SMALL doses. I would say at the very smallest 1/5 of a normal dose of each, preferrably half that even.
