I was rushed to the ER last night

smoked a blunt. coughed really hard then cracked my back. started having a crazy trip, then my heart started beating crazy and i started losing touch with reality. my body temperature was at 92 degrees. i went to the ER and they said my body was reacting as if i was having a heart attack and that whatever i had taken was cause my mind to slip into an unconscious state. but i didnt take anything accept doing acid a few times last summer and smokin some bud.

has anyone heard of anything like this.

im really scared actually, this isnt the first time this has randomly triggered by cracking my back.

i know my drugs very well and always enjoy trips.
but this is almost killing my body

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

SWIM wouldn't be surprised if it was laced with PCP...that could definitely do it.

Not only that....but maybe an LSD flashback/bad trip?

The hospital didn't tell swiy what it was? How did they treat swiy?

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

Let's be clear here. Not only must one not write in first person, but this forum does not condone illegal activity at all. Please don't refer to swiyself in first, second OR third person, only hypothetical queries allowed.

To continue, Swim has heard a lot of people saying people shouldn't stretch/crack their backs while using ketamine, but never had any clue why.

So, has swiy smoked from the same batch before? Ever have something similar happen?

Also, swiy said this isn't the first time it's happened. When else did cracking swiy's back cause such effects?

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

they told him it was a reaction from pot. but they are stupid. he felt as if he was on psychedelic. but was falling out of reality. they checked to see if he had been unwillingly given a drug, but result came negative.

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

GarretJH, it could have easily been a reaction from pot (the type even). SWIM knows numerous people who have severe panic attacks on weed....major bad trips that mess with their heart rates and all kinds of things.....yet it wasn't because they cracked their backs...so that kind of stumps swim.

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

what did they give the OP to 'stop' the effects???benzos??

everybodys different and therefore different things can and will effect people differently, but im interested to no what the actual cause of this attack was??

is the OP diabetic??(maybe swiy has an underlying condition that has yet to be diagnosed?)

Just goes to show tho, even pot can send people to hospital...BE CAREFUL!

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

SWIY certainly needs to consult a doctor immediatly!!!!and maybe lay off the piss and pot for a while and see if there is a noticable difference..?
Maybe SWIY also needs to consult a psychiatrist or psychologist and maybe even try and get some anti-psychotic medication like respiridol(spell?)

what did the ER doctor say they thought was the problem etc??

the doctors all were young, possibly interns. swim didnt recieve very much attention. they just released swim after heart rate had slowed down. he truly believe it was induced by cracking his back

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

swims not a doctor, but swim just trying to float some possible ideas because swim finds this interesting...

maybe it was an anxiety attack that got out of hand and was made worse by "he truly believe it was induced by cracking his back"(placebo effect?)

swim has never heard of some1 cracking there back and then having to be rushed to hospital etc, but im gunna do a little searching online 2nite or 2moro and il get back to swiy with swims findings....

but really if this has happened before or is ongoing then swiy really needs to go and tell swiys doctor because there could be an underlying serious condition(hopefully not tho)....

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

cool...let us no how swiy gets on at the doctors..!and good luck.

swim found this online and wonders if it is applicable?:

Scoliosis and back cracking

"Normally, a person's spine is curved slightly from front to back — in other words, if you look at someone from the side, his or her back-bone won't go straight up and down, but will bow smoothly instead. Sometimes the spine also curves somewhat from left to right, so if you looked at a person's skeleton head-on, you would see the backbone curve to one side as well. This sort of side-to-side bending is called scoliosis, a condition that mostly affects adolescents when they have their growth spurt. Scoliosis appears to run in families, but in about 80 percent of cases, a specific cause for the condition is unknown.

Signs of scoliosis include:
  • uneven shoulders or waist
  • prominent shoulder blade
  • leaning to one side
Much of the time, scoliosis isn't severe and doesn't require any sort of treatment. Rarely — for 3 to 5 out of every thousand children — scoliosis is bad enough to call for special treatment, which could take the form of a special orthopedic brace or surgery. Sometimes, severe scoliosis can alter the spacing between ribs and cause pain and difficulty breathing and, in rare and extreme cases, cause bone loss and damage of the heart and lungs. It's particularly important for children with scoliosis to be examined and monitored by a health care provider, since the condition can sometimes worsen and lead to serious health problems. "

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

Not sure where you are, but here in Australia, its Autumn.
A type of fungi can be found on some thc plants in this season. The incidence of drug induced psychosis increases in Autumn as the psycho-active ingredients list of chemicals adds a little something fungi based to your THC.

Option B
swim is getting himself at it!

The drug screen showed clean? that's odd, what happened to the THC it should of shown?
And despite how 'young' you think the interns are, they are closer to drug use, than most consultants are, and thus tend to look for this more.

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

swim went to the doct today and got prescribed:

Lorazepam (also known by its brand name Ativan or Temesta) is a benzodiazepine drug with short to medium duration of action. It has all five intrinsic benzodiazepine effects: anxiolytic, sedative/hypnotic, amnesic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant, to different extents
-wikipedia

to deal with severve anxiety. swim doctor believes he was faced with the perfect storm. he believe that an acid flashback occured which made swim confused and cause an underlying anxiety condition to come out. swims doctor is afraid that some brain damage may have occured.

swim is going to a comprehensive mental health specialist tomorrow.

the ativan works very nicely for controlling the psychoactive experiences swim has been having. there barely noticable anymore. he is just fearful of the onset of another one.

swim is gonna get healthy for a while

People could be allergic to weed just like some people are allergic to cocaine. Try using kratom (legal in the US and get on Ebay) it has a very similiar effect to bud.

detoxed added 0 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

Oh I see your diagnosis. Well maybe we can detect brain damage by checking before and after typing skills

Sounds like your cat got a hold of some bad weed. I would tell that cat to get a better dealer that he can trust. Here's a tip. If you buy an eighth or so of straight buds that haven't been crushed you know there's nothing in them but bud. Then you just crush them up yourself.

this episode had nothing to do with the quality or lack thereof of the marijuana in question...the OP had an underlying medical condition that was triggered...could happen to any1!!!

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

Hah wow. People actually think that cracking your back can cause and LSD flashback? That is completely and utterly absurd. LSD leaves your body within a couple hours and thats it its gone for good, it doesn't hide in your spinal cord or fluid or whatever nonsense people seem to pull out of their ass. The fact that your doctor said that is even more pathetic. What a worthless medical student tool. Even worse he gives you powerful mind numbing drugs to solve the problem. Does anyone else see the flaw in this situation?

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

SWIM has had a similar experience but while using cocaine. SWIM ended up feeling so sick after her back got cracked. SWIM has talked to several people she knows in the medical community about stuff like this. Pretty much what SWIM has been told is that cracking joints releases some toxins into the body and those toxins can have a reaction to whatever SWIY may be on.

SWIM has decided to stop cracking her back, even though it does feel good for the moment. But the reactions later on can stink. SWIM would suggest going to SWIY's doctor to figure out what the problem is. SWIM hopes SWIY gets feeling better!!

Re: I was rushed to the ER last night

panic attacks are very real, and build upon themselves (ie once your afraid your having one, your like "oh $hit!", and guess what - heart beats even faster). Panic attacks are usuallly for me brought on by moderate tachycardia and(or) loss of touch with physical reality (hemp wise). This is one really good reason for me to never smoke. What ever happened to MJ being a pleasant, float away euphoriant. Now, in any amts., it just takes away from fundamental reality, and that is scarey!
