Smile my first reaction

hi guys,
swim is from asia, excuse for bad english.

swim cooked last evening for 1st time [5g psedu/5.5g I/2.9g Rp/2ml dH2o].
[7:00 pm]:reaction don't start without heat source. swim test a 1000w lamp for energy generator, very thin fog (alike vapor)generated and disappeared 2-3 sec later.
[9:00 pm]2 hour later useing electrical heater reaction started with 50C , raise temp to 150c slowly at 12:00 am.
[12:30 am] wait for cool the vessel
[12:30 am] pour dH2o to vessel and stir it.
[ 1:00 am] filter the fluid and go to bed!
this morning:
[9:00 am] continue next levels!

add np-solvent (zippo lighter fluid)

add NaOH 20% and raise ph from 2 to +12

stir fluid for 15 min and wait 15 min too.
separate layers and save np-solvent layer.
make a hcl gas generator with acid sulfuric and table salt and connect to np-solvent layer.(sulfuric acid was 99% and very vary dangerouse, i was never seen that! melt bottom of plastic vessel and ...)

filter np-solvent layer.
pour methanol in crystals and boil them.
cool them slowly.

[12:00 pm]result is 1.5g pure meth.

questions about rp/i method:

1- how can i understand process is complete?
2- if i can't understand end of process and continue heat 1-2 hours more, what happened?
3- final crystals are few yellowish, but in past levels(NaOH & HCL) don't see any yellowish material,is that iodine?
4- in end of first level(boil rp/i/pe) if found out un-reacted iodine, how can i clear that without other chemicals?

Re: my first reaction

so ur telling me that you go a 30 percent yield..damn what a waste of sudo...u need to cook moer than 1-2 hours..specially with a 1000w lamp...get a hot plate its only a couple of hundred dollars...
u need to keep that bad boy going for at least 24 hours to get a better yield that 30 percent..the only way to clear out the iodine will be with sodium thiosulfate crystals...
if crystals are yellow is usually due to either excess iodine or excess HCL
do a tone wash...if that dont work do a nonpolar wash
