Question Lasting depression & sensory dampening caused by cocaine/crack use

SWIM has been using cocaine for years and crack for the past 15 months or so. Although not addicted in a sense (didn't use every day), in the past year sessions have increased to using very large quantites within a short time period (sometimes with other drugs), with paranoia/psychosis setting in on many occasions. The more this has happened the worse SWIM's depression has got, lasting even after a break of two or more weeks. Not just depresssion but lack of motivation and life and dampening of senses, consistant with lack of dopamine. I'm certain that there has been a degree of neurological damage. My question is, what substance(s) can SWIM take to help with these problems? SWIM has found currently the most effective to be PEA with an MAO-B inhibitor. Thanks

*bump*
Have you, or someone you know, suffered from depression (short or long term) from over indulgence? Please reply. Thanks

Re: Lasting depression & sensory dampening caused by cocaine/crack use

any substance acting on dopamine and / or serotonine has some form of backlash effect of some kind, which can last from a few hours to a few days, and can take different forms, dysphoria, depression but not necessarily.

the best thing, especially if one is already diagnosed with depression and especially when one is already undergoing treatment of sorts, would be not using such substances or at least not until one feels that he has recovered.
Playing yoyo with brain chemistry by using other substances or supplements is just not a very good idea, just as using psychoactives when one is mentally or physically ill isn't either, and this can easily be counterproductive, hampering the treatment of one's illnesses.
