Doing something wrong with CWE?

Swim has been doing cwe lately, from tablets with 12mg codeine phosphate and 200mg ibuprofen. Originally swim had 30mg codeine/500mg paracetamol tablets, of which he took 4 with 1/2 btl of wine, before he knew about liver damage! It did give him quite a nice warm buzzed feeling though, so he's been trying it with those weaker otc tablets.

He tried it twice with 12 tablets (144mg codeine minus whatever was lost in cwe) but to absolutely no effect. He followed all the rules, not eating, drinking grapefruit juice, and was very careful with his cwe. The only thing he could think of was that he left it in the freezer slightly too long both times, so ice was just beginning to form.

So tonight he tried it with 24 tablets (288mg codeine minus extraction losses). He again ate nothing all day and drank loads of grapefruit juice. He made sure the cwe it didn't freeze, but it still did nothing.

Swims question is, is he doing something wrong? Is it possible he already built up a tolerance to codeine, having done it 4 times over the last 3 weeks? Should he try 36 tablets next time (432mg codeine)? What's going on here?!

I suppose there is always the chance that you are one of the unlucky (what was it again) 7% of the population who are not able to get off on codeine, for whatever reason it was, enzyme or something. Sorry, I cant find the applicable links right now, but I recall reading about it a few times. If that's the case, perhaps there is no choice for SWIY other than to abandon the codeine quest. Hope that's not it though. Tell your friend good luck.
