I have found a US suplier of diethyl either available to the general public here: http://www.chem-surf.com/recycling/solvents.html#ethers There is no current listing of available diethyl either, but check back later because the site will be updated when a suply is found. I do not know about California, but Florida's laws regarding diethyl either are clear from this page: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/pharmacy/...mlwebpages/Eth erReg.html No one may purchase 2.5 gallons or more of diethyl either with out a licence that costs $150.00 annualy. |

<DIV>If you have taken any kind of organic chemistry lab, diethyl ether is used quite a bit. YOu would most likely easily be able to get quite a bit of this stuff if you really wanted to. It definitely sounds like it has some fun effects involved with it! </DIV>

You can find diethyl ether in some automobile starter fluids, but they will contain additives. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node=ether"">This is a method to reduce the amount of petroleum distillates. Any chemists have any opinions about that method? It's the first time I've seen it. Be very careful not to confuse petroleum ether (pet-ether) with diethyl ether. People refer to both as ether. SWIM yanked some from a school lab last year. I found it to be somewhat pleasing. It's not a great high, but I'm surprised it isn't more popular. Edited by: ISBN |

That won't get all the nasties out, mainly heptane which causes liver damage. Only way to do this is by distillation.
