CWE - paracetamol solubility question

According to wikipedia the solubility in water of paracetamol is 0.1-0.5 g/100 mL at 22.


So in SWIMs CWEs he uses 2ml of water per tablet(tablets contain para 500mg, codeine 10mg) he aims for a 400mg dose so he uses 40 tabs to 80 ml of water.

So if swim only uses 80ml of water is it impossible to get anymore than 1g of para in the finished solution?

SWIMs finished solutions always come out nearly crystal clear.

Swim is no expert but you shouldn't have any more than 500- 750mg of para for 80ml, if that. Even if you do get 1g it's not going to kill you. If you say the solution is crystal clear then i'd bet there isn't 1g in there. If you're still worried just re-filter the solution to put your mind at ease. In fact there is a thread a month or so back where Tortoise said a friend of his boiled down an 80-100ml solution and found 500-750mg of para remaining.

which would still be nothing to worry about, if SWIY does it on an occasional basis. SWIM would go by the optics of the product, in my signature there is a noce link to a manual w/ pictures., which has a pretty decent, even though not perfect, pic of a product SWIM made.

also SWIY has to consider when you filter it, it doesnt necessarily have to be completley dissolved (more in order to get all the "good stuff" out, but not in order to get all the pcm out)! this is just a guess, but SWIM is pretty sure about it, since he did quite some experiments. a good filtration still catches it.

still, if SWIY is still unsure he should go for more water, most people find half-a-glass of water (so like 200ml) per dosis (/200mg codeine) a good mixture, so in SWIY case it would be a full glass of water (300-400ml). the taste doesnt get worse, actually in SWIMs experiences its more bearable or SWIY could just (carefully, SWIY should check the boiling temperature in wiki) boil it down, a little, if not completley if taste is an issue. SWIM has never tried this, but it's possible, obviously it takes a bit more time
