Detection of marijuana

Hi,
I have several questions about the detection of cannabis in your system..
does anyone know how long it stays in your system after smoking it? there are conflicting stories of 6 mnths, 3 mnths and that you can trick a drug screen by taking a supplement or something?
Also, is marijuana detectable if you only passively smoke it?
How can you avoid this if you want to hang out with friends who are smoking it right next to you?
Would consuming hash cookies be a way of avoiding detection while still having fun or would it show the same result?

As I am not sure this has been fully addressed, marijuana can be detected from passive inhalation. Recent developments in roadside THC testing claim that even sitting in a room with smokers will cause metabolites to be present in excretory and blood fluids. Consuming hash cookies would indeed show up as marijuana use on any drug test.
