Ketamine and Opioid Dependence

My cat was addicted to Opioids, but noticed, through trial and error, that Ketamine was effective at minimizing withdrawal symptoms.
In fact, my cat could switch from a daily habit of 200mg oxycodone/hydrocodone to low dose Ketamine (30mg per IM shot, 1-2x per hour) without feeling ANY opioid withdrawal symptoms whatsoever! I find that to be quite fascinating, even though it is well known that K is quite promiscuous across many different brain receptor sites, especially the Mu opioid receptor.
However, taking K all day long is just as compulsive as taking opioids all day long. My cat thinks perhaps that one could safely/painlessly kick opioids if one switched to K for several weeks, then tapered oneself off the K. Ketamine dosen't seem to have the same nasty abstinence syndrome that Opioids do, although one definitely builds a tolerance to Ketamine. That 30mg IM shot on day one turns into a 60mg shot after several days of daily use.

Anyways, I thought I should share what my Kitty told me. She's one helluva Cat!
