Dama Da Noite (Cestrum sp.)
Dama Da Noite (sometimes called Dama De Noite) is the common name given to Cestrum nocturnum, C. laevigatum and C. parqui (Solanaceae).
It is reportedly sold and smoked in Brazil as a Cannabis substitute claimed to induce euphoria.
EXTREME CAUTION is advised with all members of the Solanaceae (Deadly Nightshade) family as many contain deadly Tropanes, however an online search suggests this plant may contain other compounds.
It was listed as an ingredient in the original Spice (smoking blend) formula but this is no longer the case. The common name translates to 'Queen of the Night' and it has a reputation for having an intoxicating smell in the evening when it flowers.
Swim just found and purchased a specimen from his local nursery and is wondering if anyone has any other info on this plant?
