Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
Look here - http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=76 - Many hours of Kratom information.
Also look into Corydalis (THP), and the various other poppies. Pedicularis, Wild Lettuce and Blue Lotus may also be worth a look. |

What species of Corydalis? It's more than 300 of them. I looked up THP on Wikipedia, was not much info but said it had barbiturate type of effects and affected the GABA system. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydroprogesterone )
In addition it says this about Corydalis species: Quote:

Tibetan Poppy: Quote:
I did find out it contains Beta-carbolines though, and according to wikipedia: Quote:
Also interested in Argemone Mexicana info (Mexican prickly poppy) such as how it is commonly used, what effects and what alkaloids are responsible. The little info on wikipedia about it of interest is these parts: Last edited by Bajeda; 09-10-2008 at 04:38. Reason: Automerged Doublepost - Source Disc. |

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
<<Indian Warrior (Pedicularis densiflora) is the most potent species of Pedicularis. Known for its powerful sedating and tranquilizing effects, we have great confidence in these beautiful magenta colored buds. Pedicularis densiflora (Indian Warrior) was used medicinally as a muscle relaxant and is thought to be smoked by at least one Native American tribe for its narcotic effects and is reported to produce a delightful smoke.>> |

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
Indian Warrior is very mild. Swim gives it to others as a tobacco alternative. Quick tolerance build up as well, no Euphoria, mild sedation.

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
SWIM tried kratom, but got mixed results. Mostly a headache and a speed-type feeling.
When SWIM has tapered to very low amounts of opiates, she used an herb mix of skullcap, kava, passionflower, hops (and a couple others) which helped immensely. It was somewhat euphoric, but most importantly, got rid of the awful panic & anxiety that makes SWIM use. Taking 2-3 caps could easily make one feel lightly drunk and nice - like everything is going to be alright. And that is a rare feeling to have when cutting down on opiates - heroin to be more exact. SWIM can't take kava anymore and now needs to find a replacement blend w/out it. (She thinks that product's most potent herb was the kava) There are a couple new plants being marketed as "kava alternatives". Please post if one has tried these or can suggest a good kava-free product. Thanks. |

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
Well SWIM is receiving some Argemone Mexicana extract and Kanna in couple days so he will report back then on any effects of these two at least.
Kratom has been very nice in his experience. Quite opiate similar feelings. Amanita Muscaria too, it has quite some relaxing, sedative opiate similar effects in the right dosage, in larger dosages it will produce psychedelic effects as well. Very pleasent. |

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
My friend Clover the Turtle is also looking for some opiate substitutes. Has anyone ever experimented with skullcap by itself? Clover read somewhere that it could induce visuals.

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
Skullcap has some properties but not much on its own.
So far, the most effective seem to be Kratom, Argemone Mexicana, Kava, Kanna - But, probably, a mix of these along with skullcap and perhaps some herbs like passion flower, blue lotus, chaomillla, humulus lupulus, valerian root etc could be a nice knocout nod combo. Heck some of these are great on their own really and they are all legal and easy to get, many of them can be purchased in pharmacies and health food stores. I enjoy a mix of all of the above and even some catnip along with it. Yes I can say I as I live a place where all the above is legal and sold in shops in teas and what not and the combination of all these are great and can get you quite downed. Good for coming down on anytihng or trying to ride through withdrawalas. |

Re: Searching for opiate like euphoria in herbs or OTC products
Black cumin seed or black seed oil is known to help with opiate withdrawals maybe when mixed with kratom, kava and others it could up the amount of euphoria. Especially since theres slight euphoria produced by itself its also active on some opiate receptors, or so I have read.

This is true OhCasey. Picrilima Nitida is becoming available as a 98% extract and some are pleased with it.
