Safe drugs for those with Epilepsy
Hi,
My dog has/had a seizure disorder. He is medically stable and has not had a seizure in about a year. What drugs do you think would be safe to give to him? Swim knows that a lot will just say don't take any drugs, but if that is what you are going to say please do not reply. He has safely used Marijuana, Morphine, Benzos, many times and a few other opiates without having a seizure. He is also interested in weak hallucinogens. So, what drugs are safe for a stable dog who suffered from epilepsy, but has partially recovered? |

Re: Safe drugs for those with Epilepsy
UTFSE would have yielded these...

Personally the flamingo would advise avoiding recreational drugs, due to the fact that the majority reduce seizure threashold. Tramadol, stimulants and SSRI's would be a particular non-no. And as for this "Swim knows that a lot will just say don't take any drugs, but if that is what you are going to say please do not reply.": If you do not want answers then do not ask questions! Re: Safe drugs for those with Epilepsy
In an related topic, i suppose from what swia has gathered, Cannabis would be ok in small amounts depending on the strain type as there is so many variations from indica to sativa. however she has seen seizures triggered in repeated inhalations of heavy amounts. this particular individual we were told prior had light photo-sensitive epilepsy we kept the environment dimly dark but a seizure still manifested itself.
Swia would agree with the lovely J on this one. Also say it varies purely between individual which in itself is difficult to predict. If SWIY must use stay away from stimulants and do everything really slowly if SWIY are smoking cannabis keep hydrated too. |

Swim had UTFSE, he was just wondering if anyone with epilepsy had found "safe" drugs. Swim said what you quoted because he didn't want a bunch of repetitive responses. Swim knows that tramadol, wellbutrin, stimulants, and SSRI's lower the threshold(not so much SSRI's). Hell, even benadryl lowers the threshold, but was more looking for hallucinogens because it is the one type of drug that Swim is not very informed on. Swim was just wondering if there are any drugs similar to benzo's or even opiates that are "relatively" safe. |
