Eyes no longer get red?

SWIM has noticed that when they first started smoking their eyes would get red. Of course, this is expected. However, after a few years, SWIM noticed that their eyes don't get red anymore when they smoke unless they hotbox a car or smoke in some other small closed environment. Has any SWIY experienced anything similar? SWIM knows that some people get red eyes easier than others, but has not really heard of anything like this before. Is it possible that over years of daily smoking that SWIMs eyes have adapted to this? Or is SWIM blowing smoke up my arse?

I think you might be onto something. SWIM notices the same thing. People tell him they usually can't even tell if he's stoned or not anymore.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

SWIM's eyes have never gotten red, and she's only recently started smoking daily. However, she also moves away from the smoke when she exhales to minimize the smell clinging to her clothes. ( Probably doesn't actually work, but it helps her paranoia. )

It'd be pretty cool if your body could actually adapt to the smoke, though. SWIM has a friend who's a heavy smoker, and his eyes are definitely never red.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

I think eyes getting red has to do with tolerance. whenever i feel really blazed like after two or three days of not smoking my eyes get red. but when i smoke alot my eyes dont really get red anymore

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

same here. swim's eyes only get red if he smokes a ton or is an enclosed area or something. swim agrees it probably has something to do with tolerance.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

Swim has always had problems with redeye, these problems are made significantly worse when he drinks alcohol while smoking. Swim has never noticed any significant improvement over time although, for reasons unknown, he can smoke without any redeye as often as not. Swim wears contact lenses and they probably don't help his situation. Eyedrops are swims salvation.

Swim has noticed that many other smokers do seem to get less redeye after smoking more often. However, it's fair to say that some people aren't so fortunate.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

I think red eyes also have to do with how hydrated you are cause in my experience if i drink alot of water before i smoke my eyes are less likely to get red

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

This, along with many other effects, went away pretty shortly after my penguin became an every day smoker. Nowadays, he doesn't get red eyes even when he and his friends hotbox the closet or garage. He doesn't really get tired either anymore, the only times he takes weed naps anymore is after he smokes hash.

On that note, hash is a completely different animal, my penguin suggests.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

Swim has talked to his friends a lot about this. Nobody has really understood what he meant until this thread in the forum. The more swim smokes, the less he gets red eyes. Weird...

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

Swims eyes don't get red anymore either, also he doesn't get cotton mouth as much. Swim believes this is the same effect as if someone took antibiotics everyday and then suddenly got sick and needed them and they no longer worked. Swim believes that this is a natural occurrence that is parallel with tolerance.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

Our stoner friend said that he used to get the worst red eye ever from smoking, then he began smoking daily and after a few months it went away. His other friends also did not get red eyes as daily smokers.

He noticed though that after a break his eyes would get red when starting again, he used to use eyedrops and his eyes would always turn red unless he used the eye drops, even after smoking daily for months. He hypothesized that the eye drops prevented his body from "adapting" to the symptoms of red eye as had happened over time when he abstained from using eye drops.

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

swim has been told by her friends that they dont know when she is smoking or not anymore as well, she doesnt get red eyes, but she does believe her eyes are pretty glassy most of the time, and is also curious to know if canabis contributed to the fact that when she is outdoors now her eyes are incredibly sensitive to light?

Re: Eyes no longer get red?

Anytime that you stay in a dark place for to long and then go out in bright sunlight its gonna hurt your eyes. Your eyes probably could use some more sunlight so i would suggest that its because you are staying in smoking and then going outside. Not directly associated to marijuana, this is my opinion and i do not no it for fact.

Swim reports that cannabis makes his eyes glossy aswell. As he described in one of the songs he wrote thats in a thread in drugs culture.
