London (ANI): The magic spell cast by Harry Potter on its young as well as old fans is similar to the addiction that drugs or cigarettes inflict on people, according to a leading psychologist. Jeffrey Rudski has claimed that many of the boy wizard's readers are suffering from withdrawal in just the way that drug addicts do.

After studying 4,000 Potter fans, Rudski concluded that one in 10 of the boy wizard's fans were suffering withdrawal symptoms, such as depression and loss of appetite, after JK Rowling's final tale, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, was published. A further 20 per cent admitted being on the verge of addiction to Rowling's creation.

He also found that some of the fans polled had been spending as much as four hours a day on Potter activities. "I feel like someone close to me has died," the Mirror quoted one fan, as saying. "Addiction to a drug is no different to an addiction to Harry Potter," said Rudski. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book, was published last summer.

Over a damn book, never read one or seen any of the movies. Know a few people who kids read all of them and they wasn't "traumatized" by the ending.

Maybe the kids with trauma had only one friend, a fictitious boy named Harry. How would you feel if you couldn't hang out with your only friend? I think that the antisocial kids who were really into these books got really sad, and everyone else didn't care. Anyway, food is more addictive then drugs, so lets ban that and Harry Potter, then the world will be free of troubles.

No less than a year ago, SWIM was utterly shocked to find out that many of his best friends have read and enjoyed the Harry Potter books. It was like discovering a vast conspiracy taking place right in front of him.

I hate these stories. Either they're clever shmarketing for Harry Potter, made-up fluff for newspapers or newspapers trying to ride the bandwagon.
Even if they're not, there are higher goals to allocate resources to.

I believe the bioavailability of Harry Potter books after rectal administration is significantly higher than oral or aural means of administration.

possibly by some sort of solvent? maybe an extraction from the pages, final result being evaporated and snorted or oral capsules maybe.

Anyone read any of the barry trotter books?

arry Trotter is a 22-year-old slacker wizard who still lives at Hogwash Academy with his half-canine-brained friend Lon Measley. The future of Hogwash is in peril because of the glut of fans that are camping out there, thanks to the fact that Barry sold a map to the place (now, if Hogwash is enchanted, it's never quite explained how a map would help the "Muddles" find the place, but, never mind). They are sent on a mission to the United States (of course, engaging the help of the third member of this triumverate, Ermine Cringer) to stop the production of the Barry Trotter movie. Along the way, they attempt to find author J.G. Rollins, and finally Barry confronts his mortal enemy, Lord Valumart.

This book has enough bodily function gags to make the Farrelly brothers proud (turns out, this is not by accident), plus some wicked parody and an underlying anti-commercialism theme (although whether the author is serious about this or it is just a comedic device, who knows?) There are places where the book drags a little, and not all the jokes work, but it is clever to the end, where a couple of twists make you wonder what you are reading after all. This may not be a book that 12-year-old Harry Potter devotees might appreciate, but for older fans and even non-fans of the series, it's an entertaining diversion while waiting for the fifth Potter book to hit the stores.

First of all, I adore the "Harry Potter" series. I have read all four books several times, seen the movie, and definitely consider myself a Potter-phile. I have been going through a sort of withdrawal while waiting for the fifth book to come out. The movie filled that void for a bit and so did the two school books, but it didn't make it go away. So, I've been reading books that have been compared to the series and books that are somehow related to them. This is one of those books.

yes its true... i heard a story about someone shooting another person to get the first copy of the 7th book.. sounds the same as "one junkie shot his dealer this morning to get his supply..." more potter fiends on the loose, when will it end?

ive heard of this dihydrogen monoxide stuff. pretty scary, from all the stories ive been told. i think you can find it in almost any neighborhood these days. it should be sch 1 just like that fiendish LSD.
