Combinations - Desoxyn with small amount of beer?

SWIM is not a big drinker being he his parents are both alcoholics in denial and has seen his father in many disturbing people in AA meetings he went to instead of NA because of time restrictions in his schedule.

but SWIM took 10mg Desoxyn only 1 of his 2 daily doses today around 5:00pm - 5:30pm after a nice meal and drink of soda then a glass of water because water would be better

SWIM will be partying tonight but like he said is not a heavy drinker and does not get "plastered" aka "shit faced" aka "BARF" he will sip a beer which taste he prefers and will drink at most with no medication a 6 pack sometimes some liquor he likes like tequila or a good mixed drink.

Basically SWIM doesn't like to get fucked up but if hes going to drink socially does anyone know about the combination of Desoxyn (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) and Alcohol? any advice? anything to SWIM is helpful? he will always take advice and make wise decision based upon it all and his own mind ^_^

Swom hasn't had experience with methamphetamine hydrochloride, but has with other amphetamines, so perhaps she can advise.. When using amphetamines (dextro-amphetamines, mainly) with alcohol, she found that taking recreational doses often led to her drinking too much without feeling as impaired, and eventually getting very sick to her stomach- nausea, vomiting, etc. She knows that combining any stimulant and any depressant can be dangerous in general. However, in combining her low/prescribed dosage of methylphenidate, another amphetamine, and drinking small amounts- ie. sipping on a glass of wine with a meal- she has felt fine. Swim's advice is to be cautious if swiy doesn't know how the combo affects him, and approach it slowly, but she doesn't believe there are is any reason that one would have problems with combining one's oral prescribed dose of Desoxyn with a beer or two. However, follow swiy's instincts and perhaps wait and see if anyone with more experience with that particular drug responds. Best of luck!~

thanks for the advice ya SWIM has been known to sip on his beer or drink and "babysit" the drink because he does not like to drink like in his young teens. if SWIM even does drink tonight he will post a report on how it went and the dosage of alcohol SWIM thinks he ingested.

In reasonable doses there should be no particularly dangerous interaction. Alcohol + stimulants can be dehydrating, thus drinking some water would be wise. Antioxidants would be a good idea as well.

Do you have any resources on the combo showing that it is more harmful to the liver than alcohol alone? I don't mean to question you, as I believe you- I just don't know much about this other than knowing that alcohol can be damaging to the liver- do amphetamines have similar effects, or only when combined in this way? I know that cocaine and alcohol combine to make cocaethylene (sp?) which is a whole new chemical- is there a similar interaction between alcohol and methamphetamine? And in what doses does it become significant or damaging? Any info appreciated.. ya learn something new every day

i dont have any articles or anything but they both mess up ur liver
and a stimulant and a downer like said be4 is really stressful on ur heart and liver

didnt happen for SWIM anyway night was a bust. now he shall take some of his xanax.

yes SWIM has Xanax 2mg 3x daily and Desoxyn 10mg 2x daily. best combo for SWIMs issues but we are all different.

SWIM wishes he had SWIY's issues! That sounds like a great cocktail to have perscribed. SWIM's doctor will not put him above 1.5 mg alprazolam/day and is pretty set on d-amps for adhd.

It is NOT ANY MORE DANGEROUS to combine normal, reasonable doses of amphetamines and beer than to take the drugs individually.

Amphetamines seem to give people super-drinking powers. Then when the amp starts to wear off the user all of a sudden gets much much drunker. So at least when drinking while on amphetamines careful, because its pretty easy to go from feeling good to slumped over, passed out in the corner.

Interesting posts in that thread... I consider myself to know a good deal about many drug-related topics, but it is interesting how certain preconceived notions, and the use of language, can instill certain (false or unproven) beliefs. For example, while I posted above that I didn't feel this would be inherently dangerous in normal doses, and that I had never seen evidence specifically relating to the combining of these two substances, I was still operating under the notion that "Upper plus downer generally equals bad in some way/dangerous/life-threatening." Thinking about it, this came about because I have heard of (and swim has experienced) Cocaine and Heroin together, which can be dangerous and has some deaths on the record. Then, at some point, I have heard of, or referred to, pharmaceutical combos- such as amphetamines and opiates, or amphetamines and benzos, as "Pharmaceutical speedballs" (meaning the combo of a strong stimulant and a strong depressant). So without being consciously aware of it, that link was embedded in my mind. The perils of the language we use.. it is so important to be aware of the underlying implications made when we use a word like "speedball," and to rely only on proven evidence when making a claim.

Also a very interesting point about panic attacks by the way.

Perhaps the best way to approach this is rather than dismissing any combo as inherently evil/fatal (with the exception of those which really do pose a proven and unnecessary risk, and even then avoiding value judgements), we should focus on moderation in consumption, and knowledge of dosage and effect.

it works for me and i ween off sometimes to be safe. he has never taken more than given in a day, sometimes less Desoxyn. sometimes 5mg will d enogh than 10mg twice daily.


SWIM may try with beer sometime in the future but the way SWIM drank last weekend....oye no thanks for a minute ><

That's what's called a "meme," and they are false as often as they are true. My whole point of posting in these two threads is to combat this particular meme.
