Motivation

How does SWIY get motivated? Recently, SWIM has been finding it extremely hard to get motivated using non-chemical means and is really falling behind in his work. SWIM needs help. ANy suggestions/personal experiences?

Re: Motivation

SWIM lost a lot of motivation at some point because of weed. He smoked it every night and noticed that he started skipping some things he should've done and smoked instead. It wasn't too bad and he could joke about his lazyness, but at some point he turned his boat around and started getting very stressed up because of these little skippings. That's when things started going wrong. Everything he did he felt like he had to do. Because he was a drug user he would've been stigmatized by some as a narc. Paying too much attention to that ain't solving anything.

The thing is to look at yourself as the same person when in drugs and not on drugs. That way you can learn useful lessons about life when you are on drugs. Learn how to look at world in the way that it seems to be full of challenges and possibilities instead of difficulties and tasks. It's ofcourse a lot easier on drugs but that's not the point. You can still learn more about yourself and what makes life worth living for you.

Re: Motivation

It really depends on what is going on in your life to try and motivate yourself. For me, I need to motivate myself to work hard academically, and I do that by realizing consequences for not working hard. Specifically, not getting into the grad school I want and in the long term not getting the best job I could get. I also realize that because someone is paying over $40,000 a year for me to get an education and I shouldn't waste their money by not doing the work I'm paying to have assigned to me.

Re: Motivation

If you have a lack of motivation, try getting a prescription for Adderall. It's an amphetamine prescribed for ADD, and it really does work.

That's the path I'm hoping to achieve right now. College is too important to be having to fight myself to try and get work done.
