Women prefer longer lasting erection drugs: study
Women prefer longer lasting erection drugs: study
February 27, 2008 By Tamara McLean The New Zealand Herald The erection drug Viagra has been given the thumbs down by women who say the sex and romance is better on longer-lasting anti-impotence medication. New Zealand researchers road-tested two of the biggest-selling drugs on 100 couples affected by erectile dysfunction. They found women preferred Cialis, which can help men achieve erections during arousal for 36 hours, over Viagra, which works for about four hours. Previous studies have found men with erection problems also prefer the longer-lasting preparations, but this is the first study to gather women's views on the drugs' performance. The couples tested each drug for three months, with 80 per cent of the females concluding they preferred the newer generation drug, tadalafil, branded as Cialis in Australia. Most said they had a more natural or spontaneous sexual experience on the drug. "The lack of time pressure with the longer-acting medication just seemed to make the women feel more relaxed and less stressed or pressured to get on with things in bed in an allotted time," said University of Waikato researcher Dr Helen Conaglen, who collaborated with her husband, Professor John Conaglen, of the University of Auckland. "As a result of the slower pace, there was more sexual satisfaction and more intimacy and romance." Just 15 per cent said they preferred sildenafil, an older drug marketed as Viagra, while five per cent did not prefer either. Dr Conaglen said couples responded differently to each drug, with contradicting claims about which was best in various ways, like erection quality. But interestingly, erection firmness was not a reason for preferring one drug over another, and many women specified preferring a "less wooden" result. The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, was partly-funded by an investigator-initiated grant from Cialis manufacturer Eli Lilly. About two million Australian men suffer erectile dysfunction, a problem triggered by blood vessel constriction or a blockage limiting penis blood flow. Viagra and Cialis work in similar ways, both targeting the same enzyme to amplify blood flow to the penis, but Cialis is not metabolised or secreted as quickly. Neither drug is available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to treat erectile dysfunction. - AAP http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/...ectid=10494939 |

Re: Women prefer longer lasting erection drugs: study
Scanning through some old posts SWIM came across this one. He's never used Viagra or the like so he wants to know if it makes you hard all time you're on it.
If so, Cialis gives you a 36 hour hard-on; SWIM doesn't like the sound of that. Limp dick Vs 36 hour hard-on, it's a bit of an all or nothing situation isn't it? |

Re: Women prefer longer lasting erection drugs: study
Yeah, like after hour 20 they'd be saying:
Man: "I'm so glad I'll have a hard-on for another 16 HOURS!" Woman: "Yeah, with 20 hours of foreplay I feel just about ready to give it a try" |
