aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
swim is currently researching with the help of his trusty labrats, experiments with AMT, what would be a safe drug to combine with AMT to abort the trip? bezodiazepines? anti-psychotics?

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
The flamingo would always advise benzodiazepines for aborting psychedelic trips, but only if the usual tricks (E.g: "You've Taken a drug, these feelings will wear off", or changing lighting/music/environment in other ways) have failed.
Anti-Psychotics can cause all sorts of weird paradoxical hypertension reactions, and are generally more toxic drugs. |

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
I'm not familiar w/ the MAOI diet, but unless benzo's are known to interact with these drugs...the lab rats wouldn't hesitate to find their xanax bowl as well.

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
Benzos for sure. AMT is tricky and would likely react with an antipsychotic. Lunesta has also been a good trip aborter. SWIM used GBL in the past to cool out the end of an AMT trip with success. However, keep in mind that the trip will not be likely to stop with any of these but merely become more tolerable.
BTW, beta blockers like propranolol are also helpful for hypertension and fast heart rates and SWIM has used them with the benzos for added control. |

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
SWIM doesn't think AMT to be a MAOI. SWIM has consumed much alcohol while on AMT and never experienced any ill effects. SWIM heard AMT is as much a MAOI as mushrooms are. SWIM could be very wrong, but if SWIM is wrong wouldn't alcohol have some ill effects while on AMT. It was the same as if SWIM drank alcohol while on LSD. SWIM would like to know if AMT is really a MAOI if anyone knows.

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
AMT is known to be a MAOI (particularly what would be considered a RIMA) - see the MAO wiki. I don't know if it has significant potency in the usual doses, though. RIMAs have less of a potential for food interactions. And it is not the alcohol that causes the reaction, but tyramine in beer, wine, and some other beverages.

Re: aborting MAOI trips?-AMT
AMT is not a significant MAOI in recreational doses. SWIM has tried to use it to make DMT orally available and it did not work. SWIM has also not found that it potentiates either PEAs or tryptamines in labrat trials. SWIM has had a lot of AMT labrat trials, BTW. SWIM's rats loved AMT a lot..
