USA - My cousin and the campus police

Ok, here's the story. My cousin had the day off from college (goes to keene college in new hampshire sorry for bad spelling if it is wrong) and he had been playing video games all day and his eyes were somewhat blood shot. The RA said she smelled weed and THOUGHT it was from my cousins dorm. He was the only person in there. Anyway, she called the dorm police and they saw his eyes and they said "okay, tell us know becuase we already know theres weed here". My Cousin has never done weed in his life. He said there wasn't any and they searched the whole place and didn't find anything. What do they do, they call the local police. The local police come and do a search and still find nothing. That doesn't stop the campus police from charging them with possession of weed and he had to go in front of some commitee. He was basically proven innocent but he missed a few classes and it went on his record. My question is what can he do if anything. I think this is a big injustice and is getting out of hand. Thanks.

Hire a decent lawyer and threaten to sue the university, RA (damages assigned to the RA won't be covered by the university's insurance policy so this should scare the shit out of them) and local police for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. Call the ACLU, NORML, FIRE and any other advocacy group. Alert the media and portray the school as randomly persecuting students proven innocent.
