growing coca from cuttings

SWIM was thinking that a prefered E coca or E novo might be good to reproduce buy cuttings. SWIM knows that E coca can be rooted, because this is how E coca var ipadu is propagated. SWIM has also heard that E novo is more difficult, and is mostly reproduced by seed. Does anyone have any SWIM advice on rooting either of these?

Re: Rooting coca cuttings

Swim is also interested in this as swim was just going to stick novo cuttings in some rooting hormone and put in soil and pray for roots.would love to hear from someone experienced in rooting novo cuttings.

Re: Rooting coca cuttings

SWIM just read a report on rooting cuttings from a coca web site in the Netherlands, and it recommended taking a woody cutting and sticking it in water for a couple of days before using rooting hormone and moist soil, allowing the soil to dry out some once the cut is rooted. This was advice for E coca. SWIM asked a novo grower in Indonesia, and he said he had no luck rooting novo. A grow guide on his novo web page mentioned that novo could be rooted. Hopefully someone out there has some more ideas. If SWIM were able to root cuttings, selections could be made for flavor, alkaloid content, ease of cultivation, growth rate ect..., and could provide extra plants for cultivation experiments with different medias and hydroponics. Another advantage is that the biological age and qualities of the cutting with be the same as the mother, able to grow quickly to large plant and to flower.
