Help with research.

I'm studying performing arts at college and for the next performance I play a heroin addict. So, basically, I need as much help and information as I can get to help me achieve this character successfully.


I've found it so easy to get the scientific facts...different ways to take it, what it does to your CNS, short and long term effects. But what I really need help with is how it is in the mind of someone taking heroin. From the moment the needle goes in (or whichever method is chosen) to the moment the effects wear off.


I'm looking for someone/some people who can describe in words how it feels, physically and mentally.


I understand it's not the most pleasant thing to talk about, but I really would appreciate it if someone would get back to me.

nothin really matters when you're a junkie all you care about is your next fix. you feel so great on it, nothing matters you're just happy to be.

a heroin rush is unlike any other ive felt.i never really experienced a high smoking it.snorting it is probably most peoples first encounter.to do the needle the first time adds a certain amount of fear and excitement all in itself.once the drug hits the bloodstream its a wonderful warm sensation and soon nothing else matters and all is right.once your on,its a suuden enegy boost that will get you few the next few hours and once your not sick you can then get done what you need done like house cleaning or phone calls or in the case of working girls go get that next date.some will just sit and nod and itch while others(like me)could be mistaken for doing an upper,everyone will have a somewhat different reaction and even that could change with the person over time.i noticed a change with me,when i snorted i would get sick in about 4 hours if i didnt do more.that didnt occur with needles.hope this helps,i havent been able to any in a month caused i moved to small area but this makes me reminsce.

When im around any addicts i know they are extremely short tempered and only care about themselves. Im no addict but ive experienced this on high doses. You seem to have no patience with people at all.

My bro was a morph user for a while and he would constantly be losing stuff like his drivers license or car keys. If you critized him for it at all he would just snap.

If you are playing a heroin addict who has been a heroin adict for a long time it is completely different. When I have a shot I love it for the first five minutes and this is the only time even my best friends know I am using. After those five minutes Personally I feel really motivated to do anything and everything. I am an accountant and I work alot better faster and am alot more sociable when I use. My girlfriend however uses and wants to keep to herself and melt to a couch. But if you are playing a long time user you should not act any differently. No one can tell when I am stoned and like any user with a good job I do not act any differently. P.S. if I am not stoned due to financial difficulties I take bupe so I do not hang out. Don't listen to one time users or people talking about the most extreme addicts. No one knows when musicians use or the top class artists and actors. Their was a Judge in Australia that used heroin everyday so if you want to keep it realistic act natural,if you want to make it dramatic pretend like you are half asleep. You really should talk to one of the many actors that use regularly, there are heaps.

P.S. like most heroin users I love to smoke cigarettes continuosly when I use. You know when you here about those musicians that smoke like 80 cigarettes a day ie Nick Cave Angus Young they are all users.
