Opium Id please

The other day a friend of mine came back from Bali and
came around with a small piece of black stuff he said is opium and gave
SWIM a chunk.SWIM has never seen opium in my life and would like to know if
its authentic. It is very dark ,black outside but a little
browner inside,very soft,very strong odour sort of like walking
into a chinese herb store or a type of curry odour,its hard to place
but very spicey smelling. When he was there in Bali he bought it as
hash,so SWIM is not sure if its real,he reckons the guy said "ok its not
hash but will keep you happy anyway".So tell me please what do
you people think.

Come on can anyone say from the info above that what my
friend gave SWIM is "O" or elephant shit as SWIM don't really know what
either smells like. SWIM did smoke a bit and instantly felt very high,very
relaxed in the legs and a touch wobbley.But does the spicy
curry/chinese herb store smell remind anyone of the odour of
opium,it is also very soft though not gooey,it is water soluble (unlike
hash),the smell is totally unlike hash,but very very strong
smelling.Smoking it tastes almost sweet,not crappy at all.So C'mon
please answer it will only take a minute of your time,whoever does
answer,thanx in advance.

Opium is water soluable, so that's a good sign. By itself it
smells kind of like freshly mowed grass, or dried flowers in a floral
store. The spice smell is probably from it being packed in some
strong-smelling herbs or spices as to avoid detection when smuggled
from Thailand or Vietnam (it probably was not grown in Bali).

The only other thing that's similar to what you're describing is
tar heroin, but that is usually a bit more brittle/shiny, and it smells
a bit like vinager or pickles from the acetic anhydride. Plus tar
heroin is not the form of heroin common in your area, as it is usually
found in either Mexico/western US or eastern Europe. Also when
smoked they taste very different (heroin more chemical/pungent, opium
more sweet/dark) and opium leaves a little ash cake behind called
"ashcox" or I think yenchi in Chinese. Opium smoke tastes nothing
like hashish, and one good way to tell if you have opium and not
incense or some other shit is to taste it with your tongue-- it should
be quite bitter from all the alkaloids, but heroin tastes bitter as
well.

Be sure to smoke it the right way to get the maximum out of it--
don't torch it. Just barely let it bubble slowly, letting a little
smoke off at a time. Putting it on cannabis is a waste IMO, just
smoke them seperately. Try to purchase or make a real opium pipe,
and if you can use somethiing else to light it than a lighter like an
alcohol lamp, they burn at a lower temperature.

Sounds like opium to me-- if it is, then enjoy!!!

Hey thanks for your answer,SWIM thinks it is authentic now after
using some hehehe.The taste is is sort of sweet ,definately not
harsh,(absulutely nothing like hash as SWIM screens my own),the effect is
rather quick and strong as in 0.1g split in two and smoked
consecutively within five mins is quite stong and satisfying,though not
overpowering which is good.After searching the net a bit more SWIM found
some pics of product from south east asia region and the smaller lumps
looked identical.Also tasting it was out of the question just as in the
bare thought of how my friend brought it back,hmmmmm
The idea of the spice odour coming from where it
was packed SWIMd say spot on with your thought,thanx,as SWIM had no idea of
the authentic odour SWIM means it says Picasso described the smell as being
like the circus,how do you compare that with no circuses in town hahaha.

Picasso might have said that because it sometimes smells like hay, or
maybe (?) because the gypsy bohemian types that travelled with the
circus in 1920-30's Spain smoked it frequently, possibly bringing it up
from Morocco with some kif or majoun I'm glad you got it sorted out. A ball (sphere) of opium about
the size of the smiley in this post, maybe actually a little bigger, is
about the same as what smokers refer to as a "pipe". This is
basically that same as a "bowl" of ganga, as in you could look at a
chunk of opium and say "this about x pipes" worth, or "this nugget of
ganga is about 4 bowls."

IN the western US, there's no real opium on the black market
(maybe really rarely), only bunk incense like dhoop or dragon's blood,
or tar heroin. If you want opium you'd have to grow it yourself,
planting seeds in early spring (late March through mid April where I
live) and bleeding the pods in mid summer (June through mid July wher I
live.) It is fun (in theory) and rewarding to grow and harvest,
but hard to set up a poppy patch that yields more than a few
grams. you can always extract the pods for tea afterwads, though.
