What is Lampum?
A friend of SWiM is in Thailand where he found something called Lampum (unsure about spelling) which supposedly is some kind of natural drug. It was said to be some kind of psychedelic, and very long lasting. He heard people talking about tripping for days on this drug. He also heard someone call it "crazyfruit". Does anyone know what this is?

Re: What is Lampum?
Well, Swim's Firecat is native to thailand and have never hear the word "Lampum", it might me mispelling quite a lot, or maybe a specific group slang for some drugs.
Here is what the firecat suggest: If it is a plant and if the name is "Makhuae-Ba" (common folk name in some region meaning "Crazy Fruit"), it is some datura fruit. |

Re: What is Lampum?
"natural drug"+"very long lasting, tripping for days"+"crazyfruit"
sounds like a plant of the solanaceae familly (toxic anticholinergic effect causing delirium, nor fun and also very dangerous, dosages unpredictable) as it's from asia, I would also guess it is datura (d.metel?) ...but there might be other solanaceae around |

Re: What is Lampum?
well, sorry for the late replies, as swim has some jobs righ away to do.
-- Swim just triggered the word Lampong (the first pronounced in the same way as Dam and makes it a short sound, and the second word pronounce it with the "oh" sound), which is the same plant as the mentioned datura. but Lampong is merely represent its "flower" (like when refering as a 'flowering plant') so, that should be it. The Datura Parts (flower or fruit), dont play with it ![]() In regarding to Kratom: speaking generaly, more than 80% of people know what it is. but kratom use is "normal" among men at the southern provinces, as it is a native plant there and they used it as before the law is set up. so at that part everyone knows it and has feeling about using it as just one smoke a cig. For other provinces it is not that popular, but still there's still some workers on it. Actually, it is included in the lesson at school when the teaches about classifying drugs. Here Kratom falls in the scheduled V here (same sched as cannabis and other plants) many several decades. |
