Side effects - Don't Mix Caffeine and Ecstasy

I have yet to find a medical case report that blames the drug combination for a human death. But even if the mixture is not lethal, these researchers have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it is very unpleasant.

Has anyone had this kind of bad experience?

SWIM always takes pills with a caffiented drink, like coke etc. never has any of the listed problems.

Swim has never heard of anyone having problems when combining E and caffeine. Swim has drank Coke (Cola), tea and coffee several times before and after rolling with no bad side-effects. Swim thinks Swiy is possibly mistaken and is not sure what to believe until Swiy finds some proper reports on this.

On the subject - a cup of tea or coffee is absolutely gorgeous after Swiy's roll has worn off and Swiy is chilling at home after clubbing. Swim does this a lot. It's so satisfying and lovely. Try it.

A couple of immediate thoughts arise. Firstly, people are not generally rats. Secondly, what did they expect? Of course the bloody heart rate went up - they fed a creature with a naturally fast metabolism a stimulant, then randomly shoved a probe up it's arse! Given that there was no way of explaining this to a rodent, there is going to be an element of shock & panic involved, wouldn't you think?

Conclusion - bad science. Vivisection & animal rights issues aside, this just pisses me off no end. While rats might be pretty close to humans in many respects, there are too many differences for any extrapolation to be made.

A Certain Mouse swears by a cup of tea at certain points in his MDMA experiences (without of course the addition of an anal probe!). Nothing like it, he tells me, & he has never had the problems described.

Red Bull has been known to make him ill on occasion whilst under the influence, but more from gastric disturbance than palpitations or hyperthermia, even whilst dancing.

When swim and his friends roll, they drink red bull sometimes, and other tastey sodas. And swim has never had any problems. Swim agrees with micklemouse also. if you had someone shove somethin in your anus your heart rate would increase too. Bad experiment.

SWIM has only taken E once and drank coffee on top of it and she was fine (just had to up the water intake a little more). SWIM has heard that some E pills are even cut with Meth or Heroin, or some sort of upper. Then again, she’s a newbie, so who knows.

The only other thing that I would mention on this topic that hasn't already been covered is that caffeine is a diuretic.

If anyone consumes a large amount of liquid containing caffeine, the user might have a conflict between wanting to urinate but not being able to (the latter as a side effect of MDMA).

SWIM used to drink much black coffee, well always, but before using E too. SWIM has also ingested pure caffeine powder to stay awake longer when the main effect of the E pills had worn off. (it should perhaps be noted that on many such occasions large quantities of alcohol had been consumed, and this could be why E itself was not enough to keep SWIM awake, SWIM knows this is not considered good practice).

Not to be smart but if you know anything what so ever about Ecstasy then you should know mixing it with caffeine is hardly going to have no effect at all on your heart... Ecstasy increases heart rate... And so does Caffeine, so the two mixed wouldn't be the best of ideas, but like a lot of people have mentioned, a lot of pills these days are mostly mixed with a lot of caffeine!

SwiM understands this. He always clears his system of caffeine ahead of time, and drinks water & orange juice. He says that Stride gum works well during it as well, for chewing. This protects swiY's teeth from grinding and clenching - which if swiY does so she will regret it the next few days when her teeth feel like they all have cavities .
