Swim didn't go to Caste Craig in fact, it was in the same area. He thought he did but he was wasted and was taken somewhere else, his mother just corrected him. It was another place using scientology, they took Swim in there, showed him people relaxing in saunas and stuff. Then after told me it would cost 1000's. Swim never had this money at the time even tho he most likely spent 50X that on drugs after.
Swim wanted to get into Castle Craig but needed government funding but that takes years and it costs a lot if you want to pay yourself. Swim just done it himself tho following the advice his mother found on the net, plus pure will power(most important). Read Swims "help me escape" thread if Swiy's want to know more about how he done it. Edit. Found info on it. They are a group called Narconon. Shetland drug and alcohol workers have warned islanders to think twice before signing up to rehabilitation programmes offered by Narconon Scotland. They said support and rehab programmes were available locally and it should not cost £6,000 to kick the habit, as the organisation suggests. Narconon has an international network of drug rehab centres, sponsored by the Church of Scientology. There are two in the UK, one in West Linton, Peebleshire, and the other in East Grinstead, West Sussex. Mike Gallant, of the Community Drugs Team (CDT), said: "It is essential that people take local expert advice before believing everything they hear and read. "People having problems controlling their alcohol or drug use often have very different needs, and there's no such thing as a 'quick fix'. This particular programme may be good for some people, though there are many other ways of getting help to help yourself." Jenna Leask, from the Alcohol and Drug Development Office at NHS Shetland, added that help could be available to pay for detoxification and rehabilitation. She said: "If you contact the Aftercare and Resettlement team on Lerwick 696698 they can assess you with a view to getting funding. They have all the information to help you decide what's right for you, including residential treatment outwith the islands if necessary. "Shetland Alcohol Support Services (SASS), the CDT and your local NHS health centre can also offer other help, including access to a specialist detox nurse, alternative therapies, practical assistance and counselling." Mr Gallant added that his main concern was that Narconon might not be quite what they appear to be. "They're heavily supported by the Church of Scientology, and the BBC TV programme 'Watchdog' did an investigation of them. The results of that are available on the BBC website. "Of course people may be desperate for help, but I'd urge people to think again if they're believing there's a magic pill out there to fix everything - if anyone knows that's not the case, it's someone with a drug or alcohol problem!" This is the protesters against the church of scientology, Swim was on the bus when he passed them in Edinburgh the other day. This one is from 3 months ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfGkKYBAQp4 |

Re: Narconon UK
Swims stay there was only about 2 hours he thinks. Swim was wasted, he had taken a handful of pills, about 100-300mg's valium plus about 10mg's xanax and about 1500mg's of DHC. This was about 3 years ago when his addiction was out in the open. Swims Mother had watched a program on the TV about addiction and a number came up saying if you have been affected by this program please call this number.
Swims Mother of course called but she never had a car at the time but its ok they come and collect you. Such nice friendly service, what kind of people would do this? Angels? Or money thirsty government based programs? Luckily for Swim his Father and a friend came along. Swim thought it was a wonderful place then Swims Father took Swim home and Swim can't remember much after that. He will ask him what he really thought. This is what Swims Mother had to say about them yesterday, she also said they are based on Scientology. Swims father new about them when he met Swims Mother when she was searching for spiritual guidance after she had been through real lows in 1977 after her first child died in 1976. They took her in and assessed her personality and they wouldn't leave her alone till Swims father had to write a letter telling them to leave her alone. Swims father has a strong personality and could see they were a cult then. Swim was confused as just a few days before he was in Edinburgh and he saw lots of protesters with a big sign saying "Scientology Kills" right outside the Church of Scientology! That's when Swim had to go hunting for research on the net and some of the things he found turned out to be quite freaky. He could se how it would be easy to brain wash people when they put them through cold turkey hell! Well Swim was lucky he thinks as he would have either been a brain washed fart or been signed up to loads of credit cards and they would have taken his house. Swim got clean 3 years later and done it all on his own (cold turkey from methadone), with a bit of home cooking from his Mum. ![]() If you want to read Swims jurnal and find out how he done it click on this link. http://drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34344 |

Re: Narconon UK
So you have no real experience with Narconon, except your short stay of 2 hours?
Narconon may be based on a creepy cult, but so are many religion based addiction treatment centers. Especially Christian based addiction treatment centers can be as close to a cult as you can get. Addiction treatment centers seem to be ideal harvesting grounds for new souls. The 12 step program half the world uses is religion based and gets very close to a cult. Still it works for many people. The question remains what is worse the illness or the cure? That is for every individual to decide. I would be interested to learn experiences of people that did stay with Narconon. This will give a more complete picture of what it is like there. |
