What's the difference between these two drugs? I have some experience with codeine pills 50mg each, and a friend got some tramadol 50mg in capsules. What's the difference between those two? Is it a fact that tramadol stonger is than codeine? Does anyone has experience with these two drugs and can share that with me? What about the euphoric effects, are those the same?
Thanks, ![]() Camila |

Re: Codeine and tramadol
swim has done them both quite a few times although used tramadol many, many more times than codeine. swim finds tramadol a little less euphoric but seems to last way way longer when a good strong dose is taken. codeine seems to be like the other short acting opioids lasting 4-6 hours like hydrocodone and stuff.

Re: Codeine and tramadol
Codeine is an opiate, however 200mg of codeine needs to be administered to achieve the same effects of 30mg morphine. SWIM usually takes at least 300mg of morphine (MS Contin) recreationally, she has been doing this for a while though so has built up quite a tolerance to the drug. For SWIM the amount of codeine needed to get any sort of chemical 'buzz' would be obscene and unrealistic. For this reason SWIM thinks codeine is crap. On the other hand SWIM takes Tramadol daily (200mg) and this works effectively for SWIM as an anti-depressant. It makes SWIM deliriously happy in fact. Tramadol is a synthetic opiate. When SWIM first started taking Tramadol she would take two pills (100mg) and the effects would be much more similar to an opiate effect than the effect she now gets off them. SWIM would therefore reccommend to a first time user that they just take one or two 50mg pills of Tramadol and see how they feel on it. Personally SWIM wouldn't even reccommend bothering with codeine although she knows plenty of others on DF that do use and enjoy codeine regularly so I suppose the decision is ultimately yours. Hope this has been of some help though.

Re: Codeine and tramadol
Interesting to finally hear someone have this effect. SWIM knows about this and has been telling others that chemically it has more in common with a SRI/SSRI than an Opiate class drug (which is true), but it was good to read someone actually having this effect from it . . .

Re: Codeine and tramadol
I had only 2 seizures in all my life. Both happened when I mixed this drugs. I have taken up to 500mg Codeine and 1gr Tramadol without mixing them and nothing happened, but when I mixed them, I both times had a grand mal seizure.
Just a warning. Im super metabolizer of CYP2D6 so that maybe related to the problem, but anyway, be careful. I would not mix those. Last edited by delphinen; 17-02-2008 at 17:21. |
