Health - IV Injections and tumor like masses ?

I was watching the Discovery Health Channel last weekend and a man with an unknown mass was in the E.R. It was pressing against his spine causing paralysis, but that is not completely relevant. However, the doctors suspected that the man was doing drugs through IV's because it is common for people who do that to get a mass (tumor?). The doctor said something like 40%. I'm not totally sure if I heard him right though because that number is enourmous. But do some research. I'm lazy. The show was "Diagnosis X"

Or a misunderstanding of the original poster? Injection drug use causing cells to mutate - interesting but unlikely.
