drinking on an empty stomach?

Would drinking on an empty stomach be healthier than on a full stomach since one would get more drunk on less alcohol?

Re: drinking on an empty stomach

HIGHLY unsegested. food is great for reducing hangovers, and for the amount of less drunk you get by eating, what the hell is another drink to make up for it?. but eat. eat befor you get drunk so you can finish before you lose hunger. it's a life saver if you eat because puking on an empty stomach means dry-heaving, which is horrible and leaves your muscles in your stomache feel like shit, and it will help from puking if you eat stuff like bread

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

Not so sure about this one, the advice is generally to drink after food or at least with food, drinking on an empty stomach obviously gets people drunk faster, but i don't know about it taking less alcohol.

I think this is about absorption, and if it does take less alcohol on an empty stomach to reach the same level of intoxication then i imagine it would be marginally less, maybe half a bottle of beer or something, but it's a pure guess.

Cra$h does make a good point about being sick, if you do become nauseated and need to vomit on an empty stomach then it's going to hurt and there is nothing worse, all you want is to tank a pint of water but you can't because you will just be sick again. So if it does happen (just for future reference for anyone that happens to be reading this) SIP water slowly and maybe eat a (one) dry cracker or a small amount of a crust of bread.

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

if you have no food in your stomach the alcohol can not be absorbed by the food meaning all of it goes into you blood stream quicker!

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

My penguin rarely drinks, but when he does he does so on a very empty stomach. When he drinks while he's full, he has to throw down a very expensive portion of the booze to get the desired effect. When he drinks after fasting for ~12 hours, he throws down like 5 shots of cheap whiskey or some gin and tequilla, and he's DONE FOR.

It's quite funny to watch him, just last night he said to no one in particular, "Yeah, I can do it, watch. One tequilla(drinks), two tequilla(drinks), threeeeeee tequilla(drinks), BAM....Floor. SWIM just laughed at him hysterically until he got up off the floor to smoke a bowl and attempt to not be drunk anymore.

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

while it does give a quicker buzz, The stomach, the small and large intestines, and the pancreas are each affected by alcohol. Alcohol increases acid in the stomach. That can result in gastritis or stomach or intestinal ulcers.

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

Stupidly I always drink on an empty stomach. And always a lot. I never get violent but I do forget a lot of the night. I find it doesn't stop you drinking as much, especially if you have my inhibitions

lol...only if you can have the discipline to drink less rather than just get more drunk.

I actually think you wouldn't get more drunk anyway, just faster absorption but therefore faster breakdown by the liver. You're better off eating, I think and playing the long slow game of drinking rather than hurrying, which almost always gets messy.

Re: drinking on an empty stomach?

swim routinely drinks on an empty stomach, not because he particularly likes to, but because he works in the restaurant industry and simply hasn't had the time to eat for a good 8 hours before drinking time. he does get drunker faster, but the effects don't last nearly as long. So swim can get off work, house a half-pitcher or 2 and a couple shots inside half an hour, be hammered, and then be plenty sober come time to drive home.
It does seem like it's bad for your stomach though. on nights where swim goes to bars that don't serve food, he tends to feel more stomach hurty in the morning. Not so much hangovery as just stomach hurty. So be careful.
