Side effects - Can smoking cannabis cause acne?

SWIM has been gradually smoking more and more weed over the last few months and his acne has gotten fuckin bad. Could it be the weed doin this?

Not the weed itself but possibly any fattening, sugary foods eaten during the "munchies" period after smoking. Most acne is hormonal and some people are simply more prone to it than others.

Don't know about an chemical reason for acne - but as Nature Boy pointed out above - the secondary effects of smoking more and more weed could contribute - eating greasy food, being more prone to a sedentary lifestyle, sitting around in a room filled with smoke (clogging up pores).

Alternatively at 24 - SWIY could simply be having a late rush of hormones...plenty of SWIM's friends had early-adult outbreaks that were reminiscent of being 14 again.

SWIM used to get acne from smoking tobacco, but not from weed..

Try washing your face in the mornings with pore cleansing face wash. Maybe your pores are clogged. Eating fattening foods and hormones are also plausible. Swim hasn't had acne in a while, but he remembers when he did that he used face wash (soap made it worse) and it definitely helped clear it up.


Eating more vegetables and fruit with vitamins couldn't hurt either.

Swim has been a heavy smoker for about 5 years and noticed this too. The more Swim smokes the worse it gets. Swim always thought its the smoke itself. It seems to make swims face more oily after smoking. So yeah just wash it lol
