How long does opiate withdrawl last?

Not sure why swim can't find a straight answer to this already on the forums, but anyway, it fucking happened, Swim has been using opiates recreationally for nearly 15 years resonsibly and sparingly but recently got fucking addicted after a few weeks of daily usage starting with semi-daily use of vicodin and/or methadone then heroin followed by about 3 weeks of daily use of poppy tea. Swim is in his second day of withdrawl, using kratom to ease the symptoms (not working as well as swim had hoped). Swim has heard from other addicts that withdrawl usually lasts 3 or 4 days. Is this true? Swim has been very serious about kicking as soon as swim realised he was hooked, how much longer does swim have to go through this?

it varies, depending on actual opiate and length of duration what we are aware is heroin in swia opinion is like for 3-5 days.

Opium withdrawel goes on much more longer and seems to look more painful. but then thats a mixture of opiates and not just like with heroin.

not sure, varies on person either ways its not nice and i hope u get sorted.

alright what the hell swim will just use this post as a withdrawl diary of sorts and then we'll have an answer once things are fine and dandy. It's day 4 now, about 90 or so hours after the last use, the chills are still here though not as severe but the pain has decreased considerably since this time yesterday. Depression is really really bad, fucking horrible, crippling, overwhelming depression. still have the runs and have difficulty sleeping. Swim needs to get back to his life, hopefully things'll be easier tomorrow.

It will get better buddy. Usually takes 3-5 days for the withdrawals, you might still feel a little crappy after that for a couple more days, but that should be it. I have a post on here where I "kinda" typed up a diary, just check my recent posts. =)

Nearing end of day 5 and things feel pretty normal for swim. In fact, in a pretty good mood right now, a bit relieved, like when you are nearly done with a cold that's kept you in bed and you feel good just to feel better, even if yr not at 100% quite yet. Mild depression throughout the day, but then swim was depressed before all this happened. Stomach feels gurgly but that could be from the kratom too. Got some good sleep last night. Things are looking up.
