Question time release pills=bad time for swim

swim has learned that when oraly taking most things an empty stomach is the only way to go. If there is some food in swims stomach it seems to make the stuff hit him slower which seems to almost always lead to a bad experiance.

Time release pills especialy like concerta seem to create this artificialy.

Anyone else not like time relsease? And is there any way to remove the useless ingredients that cause the time release?

Re: time release pills=bad time for swim

Perhaps the active chemical in ritalin/concerta irritates the lining of your intestines, or something along these lines. Many people seem to experience the opposite, that is to say that if they take the stuff on an empty stomach it makes them feel unwell.

If you want to defeat the time release mechanism, you have to break the structure of the pill. Inside the pill are two chambers that contain most of the drug, so you need to break these chambers open, either by smashing the pill with a hammer, or by cutting the pill open with a sharp blade. When the pill is properly cracked open, then swallow the whole thing - about 1/5th of the drug is on the outside of the pill, it is the only bit which is supposed to get released instantly.

Swiy should tell his/her doctor about their problem with time released pills. I think most doctors would want to adjust the meds if their patient had a problem like this.

Of course, this is assuming that Swiy has a prescription for his meds.

I didn't really get the impression that he's not abusing them.

You might as well call poison control and say you have a stomach ache after you took your meds and ask why it's happening.

And whitedog:
Are you taking more than one pill at once?
What kind of time release pills are they? Like Concerta or something?

Re: time release pills=bad time for swim

1) Empty stomach is best for Methylphenidate. Can't figure out the right PH after all this time, as taking with coffee works, and today, swim took with apple sauce and it worked. *shrugs*.
2) Various generics for Ritalin SR never gave swim a stomach ache, but was not effective for long without destroying the time-release mechanism.
3) It is possible to destroy the time-release of the wax-matrix formulations of Ritalin CR/SR/LA and its generic friends. The method absolutely depends on the manufacturer of the pill and the result is only suitable for oral administration. Don't know about all the new stuff like Concerta, though. Doesn't seem worth the trouble. Can swiy get anything else? (Swim assumes this is all by rx.)

Re: time release pills=bad time for swim

Swim didnt get a stomach ache off this, just to clarify

swims friends would take about 14 at a time, however swims other friend who supplies them only has taken a max of 3 at a time whilst he gave swim 4, which swim took before making sure it was a good dose "usualy swim doesnt do this, but it was like the last drug swim had left to try and he was feeling tuff"

ADHD medicine raises the chemical in your brain called dopamine. When it goes up, it lowers your appetite
