Here's a translation of a depressing danish online news article from today, it comes as no surprise though. :

Horse medication banned as drug.

The euphoriant drugs ketamine and methylone are prohibited with effect by tomorrow. From now on the drugs may only be used for medicinal or scientific purposes. This writes JydskeVestkysten [newspaper].

The reason behind is that it implies a serious health risk to use the drugs, informs the department of health.

Ketamine which is used as a sedative for horses and other larger animals has begun to spread as a drug among youth in party- and abuse settings, who perfectly legitimate could consume the drug when it wasn't prohibited.

"The two drugs give a serious health related risk, both for the one using them and for the surroundings. When we discover that that kind of drugs suddenly gains foothold on danish ground they should immediatly be prohibited of course", says minister of health Jacob Axel Nielsen (K) to the newspaper.

Ketamine can according to the department of health cause psychological complications and severe poisonings. The same applies to methylone, that furthermore can make people violent.
