2mg Diazepam
My friend is getting a monthly script for white 2mg diazepam, but he is easily used to taking upwards of 70mg at once. Would it be OK to take like 35+ (70mg) tablets at one time, or is that a bit dodgy?
I suspect it probably would be OK to do it, providing you can actually handle the diazepam, it's just the sheer number of pills that he is wondering about. What do we think? |

Re: 2mg Diazepam
I could really use an answer on this one, my friend has 30+ pills and wants to know if its safe to eat them all at once, it's not the amount of diazepam, it's the other shit, fillers and binders, will it be OK?

Re: 2mg Diazepam
Yes as far as swim is aware fillers and binders aren't dangerous. But better to wait untill sure..

Re: 2mg Diazepam
SWIM agrees with the above post.
So long as it's the same mg of diazapem as usual it shouldn't be a problem with SWIY. |

Re: 2mg Diazepam
eh, swim would be a little causcious. just being that swim has heard some binders/fillers in certain pills could be somewhat of a problem when a whole lot is taken. but swim must repeat.... this is what he HEARD. could be complete bullshit. and swim thinks if that was true diazepam wouldn't be the drug to worry about. swim would definately take the equivelant dosge, no doubt about it. swim thinks there would maye be some kind of warning if there really was a problem. mmmm swim could use about 70mg diazepam right now, but thats being he doesn't have any of his prescribed clonazepam left. swiy could think about changing to clonazpeam as it is way more potent so there will never be a need to take too many pills at once. and swim likes clonazepam way better than diazepam anyway. and it could be easy to get switched to that as it has around the same half life.

Re: 2mg Diazepam
Safety wise swim thinks it is okay as long as the dose of the active ingredient is okay for this individual- just a pain in the arse swallowing all them pills. But she wonders (speculation only here) if the amount of binder/filler material could potentially impact the absorption of the diazepam (quantity absorbed/bioavailability, length of absorption time?) She knows that things like food in one's stomach can change pill absorption.. that said, the pill material may not even be significant compared the the amount of food material that is usually present to interfere.. and she certainly does not advise taking any more than one's usual dose before knowing how the different pill size/dose affects one (if at all), or taking any med before knowing for sure how it is likely to affect someone..
As stated, 70mg diazepam (or any active ingredient really) is = to 70 mg diazepam/active ingredient. But it would be worth checking into to see if 1) There are any inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) that could e harmful in certain quantities as JaWill88 suggested, and 2) Even if not harmful, what are these ingrdedients and how might they effect him/her- absorption of active ingredient (increased or decreased?), effects on stomach lining, side effects like nausea, time to absorb (ie. if it takes longer and one doesn't feel the effects right away and subsequently takes more, this could be dangerous) etc. Again, I am not referring to these specific diazepam 2mg pills as i I don't have this specific knowledge, but am merely providing suggestions for any similar situation in which one is taking a large quantity of smaller-mg pills, or even just switching brands, switching drugs, etc. Always better safe than sorry. But swim would hope that in general, pharmaceutical companies would produce all meds in a way that causes the least possible risk.. |

Re: 2mg Diazepam
Thanks for the replies,
I definitely knew 70mg of diazepam is 70mg of diazepam regardless of the doses of the pills themselves, it was just the sheer number. My friend ended up taking 25 with a cup of tea, then thought screw it, 3 more (2 x 14 blister packs), then he waited and took the other tray (14) a few at a time. he said the absorption seemed fine, quite fast actually. Only thing is he gags every time he swallows a few pills at a time, especially ones like nitrazepam (5mg and they are the size of a paracetamol). So we reckon inactive ingredients will be excreted with no problems at all? |

Re: 2mg Diazepam
Yes swim thinks so.. When he asked his doc receptionist for 3x10mg diazepam for his fear of flying and he got 14x2mg diazepam. Did look scary to take that many pills but he didn't have any problems.

Re: 2mg Diazepam
Possibly a little late, but, from experience (from a very messed up portion of her life) the flamingo would advise caution.
Necking large quantities of pills is physically difficult, requiring some liquid to get them down: Just make sure that the liquid is water and not alcohol! It also takes a while to take so many pills (thus has potential for effects starting to kick in while still taking, therefore possibly losing count/overdosing) |
