First time setting advice
SWIM would like to try mescaline for the first time. He's had some experience with LSD and (more recently) Salvia. He also wants to get something "constructive" out of it vs. "trip balls."
So, he's planning on taking it during a multi-month motorcycle tour (a life altering thing in and of itself, in his opinion), somewhere where he could expect to be the only human within 10 mi, accompanied by loud rock music (which he can turn on/off, of course) that's meant something to him. Specifically... 1. He plans to get a sitter to wave him "bon voyage," then vamoose, contingent upon sitter's discretion. Good/bad/indifferent? 2. Would ingestion method (extracted vs. glop) make any difference at all W/R/T being constructive? 3. Is some sort of physical stressor (fasting for example) advisable? Any advice would be appreciated. SWIM has noticed that psychadelics are most intesne the first few times, and he'd like to maximize THIS first time! |

Re: First time setting advice
Is swiy going to be in the desert when he uses this? Swim always thought that would be so cool to do this drug in its home turf. As for swims advise he says...
1. Always have a sitter, especially with a substance you've never done before. If only to be there with you until you've peaked, it helps a great deal, make sure you trust them (with your life is best). Just having someone close to with you will help make you feel safe, and calm you throughout your trip. 2. Different forms usually make different effects. Ingested vs. Insiffulated, Smoked vs. Enima, etc. Whatever you got dude, use it. Swim would recommend just eating it regardless of whether it's glop or extract. 3. When swim did this, as he usually does with most drugs he started out by eating a full breakfast in the morning so he's sure he's got something to run off of for the rest of the day. Then he would wait an hour to 3 hours and ingest the substance. Then to keep his vitamin C, and other supplements up he would add to that some vitamins at appropriate incriments. He would then wait until he was almost back at baseline to actually eat again. 4. If you are going to be alone, make sure you are like you said away from any civilization (This is where swim would recommend a friend at least in the viscinity). Also be prepared as far as food, water, and other essentials are concerned. Have some safeties to bring you back to earth and calm you down if you start to freak out, such as a favorite song of yours ready on your mp3 player, etc. Have your friend take your keys as driving would be inadvisable. Just be careful man, let swim know how it turns out. |

Quote:
1. Though the personal journey is an integral part of the mescaline experience, and should be potentiated, explored, and valued, the presence of a sitter can be an invaluable, lifesaving asset. Note that the personal introspection and presence of a journey can coexist. If the sitter understands the intent, and respects the process, they can have their own experience with a book, a small joint perhaps, or a music player of their own. As long as they are within earshot/ a reasonable distance, swiy will have a 'safety net' of comfort, that could be important if the journey takes an unforeseen direction. 2. Depending on what your friend wants to accomplish through this 'constructive' journey, the extraction may provide a more workable psychological state, while conversely, the 'glop' can become an integral physical experience, much as 'la purga' is to the process of ayahuasca. If swiy is looking for an experience of deep catharsis, a 'glop' may facilitate this more successfully. 3. Swim would not recommend fasting. The journey is long, and can be tiring. With that in mind, it is also not recommended to eat the cactus on a 'full' stomach. As I<3Salvia's friend experienced, eating early and dosing a few hours later is probably the safest bet with regards to energy, safety, and efficiency of consumption. 4. An extra blanket, or even a warm fire, would be a welcome companion. The ingestion of cacti has consistently given my friend body 'chills', and a warm beverage or friend can be a real lifesaver during these moments. 5. Literature also makes a fortunate, interesting, and hypnotic friend in the depths of mescaline intoxication. Swim has never found his vision to be reasonably impaired, and has read through the same brilliant stories dozens of times during some glowing experiences. There is an occasionally glanced-over empathetic component to the mescaline experience that drives the mind deep into the minds of others, during conversations, reading, watching, or simply thinking. All the best on your friend's beautiful journey. As always, be safe. Last edited by Shampoo; 06-02-2008 at 23:22. |
