Paracetamol in finished solution
Swim is aware that a small amount of paracetamol is dissolved in the resulting clear solution. Does anyone have any idea how much? Swim read that this amount is usually around 1.5g(3 tablets). This sounds too much as swims CWEs are usually very clear and 1.5g would be visible when cooled.
Swim is concerned because he usually refilters his paracetamol to catch any remaining DHC which results in 2 CWEs (potentially 6 tablets) Swim also sometimes does codeine with the DHC which is 3 CWEs (9 tablets) or 4 CWEs( 12 tablets) if swim refilters the co-codamol paracetamol. So in essence Swim could be ingesting dangerous amounts of paracetamol. Swim’s gut feeling is that there is probably less than 500mg(if that) dissolved as absolutely nothing floats to the bottom or filters out when cooled or frozen. It would be good to have another opinion on this as 1.5g seems too much to go unoticed in a clear solution. |

Re: Paracetamol in finished solution
If the process is done correctly 1.5 grams is NOT going to be in the solution. It depends on the amount of water used and the care taken during filtration, but imho the high end of what you'd get is 1 g in solution, and thats an absolute overestimate too.
I think a member of the board once did an experiment where they diluted a couple of grams of paracetamol, did a cwe, boiled off the water and weighed the paracetamol from solution. I don't remember what the results were, but it was deff less than 1 g. I'm sure whoever it was can chime in! (tortoise perhaps? ) |

Re: Paracetamol in finished solution
No, that wasn't me. It was Swim. He dissolved 20g of pure, powder paracetamol, did a CWE (with 90ml of cool water rather than cold) and boiled down the final solution to find only about 700mg to 800mg of powder left over, presumably all paracetamol. If Swiy uses less than 100ml of cold water and has no floaties in his final solution he will be safe in Swim's opinion.

Re: Paracetamol in finished solution
Cheers, SWIM feels reassured now as he was on a bit of a panicky comedown a few days ago imagining his liver was super damaged. Swim usually uses 110ml for 32 paramol, for some reason paramol CWEs filter better with a bit more water rather than less.

Tortoise, was there any floaties in the solution before you boiled it down? |

Re: Paracetamol in finished solution
I just asked Swim and he said no. No floaties were present.
