How does swiy dispose of them. Coffee cans with lids work well.

Your local needle exchange, if not i would suggest breaking the tip off and sticking it down inside the plastic tube with the plunger down in it and then just throwing the rig in the trash as a last resort.

I use to make key chains from diabetic needles, i would place a rig on a oiled pan with another pan on top with a brick and slowly heat it up in the oven.

Needle Exchange is the only way to go.

Bear in mind that rigs, spoons, filters etc can also be contaminated with blood and therefore also need appropriate disposal (ie "Sharps", NOT trash)
