Evil- Misplaced?

So SWIM recently tripped out on about 1/4 of shrooms, and when he saw looked at things, he noticed that they morphed to form sort of four dimensional, ever moving, infinit pictures. But, when one has a good trip, like SWIM did, as in a real good headspace, everything is really, well, nice, and the little things are epic, and nevermind the big things, they are, well, huge. But this time however, he noticed that the pictures he saw had a very diffirent 'thing' to them. That is, that if SWIM had looked at them in a sober state he would think "well thats plain evil", this time though was diffirent, he would see demonic looking faces, but they were angels at the same time, all noises he heard were apparantly terrifiying, but they didnt affect him the way he thought they should have... They were quite nice actually, almost sobering, reveiling to SWIM that our perceptions on what is good and evil may well be truely misplaced for the sake of society...Anyone else had any experiences were their beliefs had been reversed?

Re: Evil- Misplaced?

The realization that good/bad are merely social constructs is quite a common experience on psychedelics. It's along the path of dissolving all these dualistic terms to arrive at reality as it is, being-nonbeing, which is the goal of much meditative pracsis. Good/bad is mainly forced upon us by religious morals with all its talk of sin and redemption, as an ethical question it's hard to define what is good or bad in an absolute sense. Also polarities shift, Sadam was bad when he was removed, but he was good while he was gassing iranians, I'm sure his way of ruling hadn't changed much during the years only peoples perception of it.

That's one of my favorite personal insights. The fact that society attaches good/bad connotations to multiple things. When taken away, everything can be enjoyed for what it is, not what it's supposed to be.

Re: Evil- Misplaced?

Good & Evil are words. Words that are continuously employed as tools of judgement and manipulation. These ends derive from fear. Notions of good and evil are not incorrect but cannot be judgemental even in their acuity without misleading. Even when judgement is necessary for the making of a decision, the labels are misleading. There is no context where the words may be used in a way that is not somehow misleading. Even if one's assesment and intuition is valid they cannot be as all-encompassing as such terms would lend toward a nature of. Yet society throws the words around like salt and poisons the crops. We starve for philisophical truth and only by reconciling such apparent paradoxes may we achieve the enlightenment so few of us even seek despite that such ascension is the ultimate form of our existence.
