Seeds from Shop vs Seeds from Pods

Hi,

SWIM has been making poppy seed "tea" for some time now. There are probably better ways to make it but SWIM just likes to pour seeds into a 2L plastic bottle, add water, and shake then allow to settle for a while. There have been good results from the dark, muddy "tea" that results from this.

SWIM also likes making tea from pods, and with all the seeds put aside from the poppy pod tea the above method was used. However the "tea" from seeds SWIM took direct from the pods didn't produce a dark muddy tea, instead it was clear and there was no noticeable effect.

SWIM would have thought the seeds direct from pods would be much more effective, any idea why this isn't the case?
