Hey swim is interested in trying dmt but he wants to know some things
I have heard that in the 7-20 minutes that you trip, it can feels like hours, days weeks, or like a whole lifetime. This is fucked up. Swim wants to know if this onle happens at high doses? can someone elaborate on this feeling? it is so hard to graspp this concept for swim because how can the people watching experience 30 min when you expereince 30 years??? Is this ANYTHING like the dxm time perception corruption? Also, is starting at 5mg and moving up to 10 an hour later, then 20 another hour later, etc a good idea? thanks |

Re: DMT time effect
Why don't you read the DMT,DMT Plant's and Ayahuasca where you have posted this thread. All your question's will be answered there. When you have read all that and you still a little unsure, then come back and ask.
Take care and Welcome to the DF

Re: DMT time effect
Swim has never tried DMT and she doesn't ever want too either. Swim feel's that you can reach this 'other world' without the use of DMT (through meditiation). But that is just swim's opinion. Now to answer your question, swim can only use her own experience with LSD and pure MDMA. Time is disorted more so on LSD than MDMA. And she also think's it depend's on the dose as well. But when trippin, time slow's down, but it doesn't come to a grinding holt where 30 min's feel's like 30 year's(never heard of anyone experiencing this). And swim really doesn't think that DMTwould disort time to such an extent either, even on high doses. Now that would screw with your mind, your phyche, everything I would imagine. Swim just doesn't think even with high dose's that people would be able to handle such time warp. (Let's do the time warp again......LOL)
While trippin on acid (1 acid drop on a sugar cube at home), 10 min's might feel like 30 min's. Swim find's that when she take's mdma that time's goes really really fast. Especially while havin FUN Swim knows that she may have not answered your question very well, but wanted to give you some sort of answer. This shit is not to be fucked with. If I were you, make sure that you have SOMEONE LOOKING AFTER YOU while trippin on this shit. I myself think's this shit should be illegal and some fucking heavy fine's attatched. But this is my opinion and I hope I haven't deterded(sp) you too much. Take care dude and I would be very careful taking dose after dose in one night's session. From what I have seen on this drug, and at high dose's, you don't want to take it again that same night. If at all........ Last edited by BeachBabeluvinlife; 14-02-2008 at 05:38. Re: DMT time effect
DMT can, for many, induce a state of altered time perception. Though swim has never experience more than a 10 fold change in time (10 minutes becomes 1hr40m), he has heard anecdotal evidence of DMT expansions of 30 minutes experienced as a full day. Experiences that boast this time expansion may be valid, though the potential for the 'days' simply being an unsatisfying exaggeration of an unexplainable distortion of reality seems high. More often than not, I would take these descriptions with the proverbial grain of salt, and assume that the experienced user is trying to convey an potent expansion that merely eludes the confines of language. For all intents and purposes, swiy should not expect to live out another lifetime within the DMT experience, though as T. McKenna seems to believe, the right mindset can land you there in a perfectly cognitive and aware state of perception, complete with an unrelentlessly expanded sense of time.

Re: DMT time effect
Swim has had some pretty intense experiences on higher doses of hallucinogens where time seems to stick, loop, go backwards for a moment or two or a short period of time seems like many hours but never a whole lifetime or years. A moment can, in a strange way seem like eternity but not exactly in the way we think of it normally. If that makes any sense at all.

Re: DMT time effect
SWIM would advise against dosing every hour, and especially against doubling your doses every time, especially as this is SWIY's first experience with the substance.
DMT is intense beyond belief, there is no need to overdue it. Just find a dose SWIY believes they're comfortable with and ingest it. Use the time afterward to meditate and maybe do a bit of introspection, instead of simply dosing again. Good luck! |

Re: DMT time effect
There is really some serious time-expansion going on when on ayahuasca. SWIM would agree with above posters in that 30 years seems to SWIM to be an over-exaggaration. He has taken pretty high doses, 12g and 15g of mimosa hostilis, and would estimate the time dilation to be something like 2hrs -> 6hrs. But it's really a bit difficult to say, and he feels like the time-dilation effect doesn't seem so big when thinking about the trip afterwards, mostly because there isn't(for SWIM) so much content in the trip that can be remembered or memorized well in the normal everyday mindset. After the trip, however, it feels like there has happened everything between heaven and earth within those few hours.(for SWIM the most intense peak lasts two to three hours tops, though he is still decently tripping after that but it doesn't feel that intense after what just happened) It could easily be said to feel like tens of years in the sense that you don't feel like the same person that earlier that day drank the ayahuasca.
The time dilation feels like it's more powerfull on a relatively short period of time. With high dose DMT SWIM will never have enough time to recollect his current life on earth well, so most of the content is sharp and alien imagery in his minds eye, just pure things and shapes without any reference to his own life and an outsider viewpoint of the life in general. Then he usually starts slowly remember, or have time to remember, what his current life is all about, and indeed, that there is such a thing as time that people normally follow. Here's his trip report of the last journey, if you haven't read it it might be of interest: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...880#post392880 |

Re: DMT time effect
In the past, it has made Mikey think he's only been tripping for a couple of minutes, when his friends told him it was more like ten or fifteen.

Re: DMT time effect
I thought I should mention that SWIM's brother took LSD one time (which SWIM also took, but SWIM didn't take as much) and time came to a complete stop. It didn't exist at all. SWIM's brother is quite intelligent and is not the sort of person to make this up. His brother said time slowed down, kept getting slower and slower, and suddenly no longer existed. Everything stopped. There was complete nothingness for what seemed like an eternity. SWIM was there with his brother and didn't even notice his brother black out or anything. He just paused for a second or two and then told SWIM we was out for what seemed like an eternity.
Now, SWIM has a lot of experience with LSD. SWIM's taken it about 1000 times in his life and never saw time stop. His brother also never experienced that again. SWIM doesn't get much time warpage from DMT, but almost always from LSD or psilocin. Once, while tripping on Psilocyb cyanescens, SWIM saw the entire universe including himself go out of existence for a split second and then saw everything get re-created in a few seconds of time. It was completely AWESOME and almost impossible to put into words. Now, SWIM has used mushrooms quite a lot and prefers them to LSD, but only once did he see the entire universe go out of existence and get recreated and it was on a low dose of mushrooms. It was the most spiritual experience swim ever had. To this day swim gets chills running through his body when he thinks of that day. These sorts of unexplainable almost impossible experiences can and do happen. Some people out there are making up stories or exaggerating, but some of these unbelievable far out effects people talk about from taking psychedelics really do happen to some people on occasion. Someone saying they experienced a lifetime in 15 minutes of a DMT experience sounds impossible. But unless you are the person saying this, you cannot know if it was an exaggeration or truth. I’ve experienced dreams that carried with them an lifetime of memories. If I can dream a dream that has memories going all the way back to the beginning of time, why couldn’t someone experience a lifetime while on DMT? I know it sounds impossible, but if someone were to tell SWIM that they saw the entire universe cease to exist and then get recreated again from a low does of mushrooms, SWIM wouldn’t have believed them. But then one day it happened to SWIM. So SWIM is not so quick to assume a person is exaggerating anymore. I guess I’m just saying, don’t discount something as an exaggeration or untruth just because it doesn’t happen to most people. Strange and unbelievable things have happened and continue to happen to people who never take psychedelics. |

Re: DMT time effect
So everyone says this is a highly intense drug (which swim does NOT underestimate at all). But he has heard way to many people boast about it. Should he fear a first time trip, and is the second trip easier because of the experience?
Swim finds that many drugs are like roller coasters, one may be skeptical and nervous at first, and possibly even terrified during the ride, but towards the end its all fun and you want to do it all over.. the times after that are easy because you know what to expect. So many drugs have felt like this to SWIM, but should dmt be categorized differently? it seems like the drug of jesus from talk, but salvia did too at one time, and it really isnt all that insane. if anyone gets the chance can they positively ID SWIMS Phalaris? He posted in another post.. if you seach swims username hes sure that youll see the post, as he is a new member Thanks in advance and for all the previous answers |

Re: DMT time effect
swim had a wonderful experience tonight on dmt. bliss and a feeling of complete inner peace. immediatelyafter taking three hits (~60mg all together) time wrapped back around itself. swim experienced the 30 or so minutes before the dose was taken in a flash and was able to see the complete beauty in the mundane things we had been talking about. swims taken alot out of this, hes so much happier about life in general. swim was in the rabbit hole and forgot what happened to him while he was there but hes come away with knowledge that cannot be put into words.

Re: DMT time effect
SWIM wishes he could smoke doses like that...well, not really since by then swim's trachea might as well be a piece of plastic.
Worth mentioning though, during swim's oral trip (which was similar to a very strong dose of LSD), time went really slow. Not days or weeks, but the music he was listening to was just so slow. mostly because swim forgot he was listening to it because it would send swim's brain off its own tangent and come back to the song wondering why he was still listening. Also, on his first dmt oral trip, time actually sped up towards the very end of the trip (swim was watching the seconds on his clock go by at least twice as fast). That was kind of scary, as swim has never experience time speeding up on anything else. Sal-A |
