can someone explain how blood pressure is effected by thc?

I understand that if you are sober and you stand up suddenly from a sitting position that your blood pressure naturally drops a few points but then returns to normal since your nervous system causes your blood vessels to narrow and your heart to speed up slightly.

How does THC interfere with blood pressure and the way the body reacts to simple things such as sitting and standing?

In some people THC can raise blood pressure, I'm not up to date on all the literature so i wont speculate as to causes and effects.\
But i dont think changes from sitting/standing will bother you if you have a strong heart.

Re: can someone explain how blood pressure is effected by thc?

Initially it raises bp, but for most people, it drops it. It does this via vasodilation, which means arterial walls relax and create more space. When you stand up, there are rapid shifts in fluid pressure from gravity distribution, and since there is extra space for blood to pool, it takes longer to redistribute. Hence the headrush. However, SWIM*has noticed that cannabis overall raises SWIM's BP a bit. Most documented case histories and trials have found this not to be the case, so SWIM is an outlier in this respect. The term for a headrush when standing is postural orthostatic hypotension.
