i was watching this show today again and they gave one kid mushrooms to cure his headache. once doctor house took lsd, he uses vicodin daily, they thought one kid was taking datura, wilson uses anti-depressants, the girl (forgot her name) once took meth, lesbian accused for taking mushrooms,police officer that grows mary jane,wilson rolling a joint for his patient and many more.almost all series include something about drugs
i mean, what the hell? is this show made by a junkie or what?

SWIM likes its drug references, not to forget ketamine given to house to try and cure his leg of course.

Mrs. Grandbaby and I are hooked on this show. It's a more-intelligent-than-usual piece of (pretty) light entertainment. I often get cross with the writers for not being more accurate about psychoactives (although I do enjoy the references) but I have to remind myself that a) this is the way people really do talk about drugs - even doctors - and b) this show shows psychoactives in a more positive light than most, and might even open a few folks' eyes to theraputic and non-theraputic uses of a number of substances.

I like that show, I dont understand why Dr. House would have to steal vicodin , because of his cronic pain . His doctor should be writing him a script to give him some comfort.

He often does get prescriptions, but House thinks he shouldn't have to bother. To be honest, if I were him, I'd probably think the same.

This is one of the only TV programmes I can watch without feeling like I'm losing intelligence. I feel I'm very similar to Greg House, which is probably why I like it so much.

Great show, though it's pretty much carried by Hugh Laurie (Blackadder FTW).

One piece of trivia that's pretty cool: House's character is based on Sherlock Holmes - and Arthur Conan Doyle based Sherlock Holmes' character on a doctor he knew who specialised in diagnostic medicine.

The only complaint I have is that the show seems to be getting a little more outrageous in what people are diagnosed with. The first season it was a lot of pretty accurate stuff, but the last episode with the woman in Antartica was implausible. Maybe this is just because my father whose a doctor watches it also.

I felt sorry for House in that one, he really liked her, and he didnt even get a chance to "tap her keg" because the other guy , the one who was up there with her, got to get it.

I hate it when that kinda shit happens , ecspecially to me!

I too love this show.

I feel not only is it very entertaining, but I feel it's doing a great service by showing many that drug addiction isn't just for people that walk down the street talking to themselves.

A few episode parts that I don't see mentioned that were my favorite were his "box" of goodies that he used when in alot of pain (morphine, a syringe, and many unidentified pills). Also at the end of the one show where he was going without vicodin and he took some at the end and it just showed him sinking into that chair, very accurate!

I started watching this show (from the beginning - I'm still in the first season). House MD is probably the least neurotoxic TV show I've ever seen. The medical details are interesting, the drug references are OK (as said, mostly accurate), but House (the person) is the factor that made me continue watching episodes. Lovely sarcasm, interesting personality, unique way to do his work, often in gray (or black) moral areas. Great show.
