Filtration using silks

SWIM just wants to ask a couple of questions about filtration of the water/opium solution.

In the quick guide by Samurai he states that a 3 stage filter is best. This uses high count silk and low count silk at different levels. Now, not having a clue about fabrics, SWIM wanted to know where SWIY gets these silks from. Could SWIM just use silks from clothes like the kind you can buy as fabric off the net, or does SWIY have to go somewhere more specialist. Does it matter if the fabric is dyed?

Are there any other easily available substitutes? SWIM has tried coffee filters and they just don’t get enough out.

Yet to try the old paraffin wax but I guess that’s next.
