Re: Sniffer Dog

You shouldn't berrie weed.

A more important factor than how deep to bury it would be how it is packaged. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell, don't underestimate them.

Given enough time a good dog should be able to hit on any reasonably accessable depth (like that which could be attained w/o any equip.)

It may be a myth but it can't hurt. Either way it doesn't really matter as dogs are known to be inaccurate. Actually this is due to the dog handler and not so much the dog. Dogs can easily be made to give false alerts by the handler, which then gives cops probable cause.

Re: Sniffer Dog

SWIM always had this idea.

What about parafilm? This might be a myth...but does wax cover up the smell if sealed? SWIM just thought about wrapping it in about 2-3 layers of Parafilm (my god, one of the most useful pieces of equipment in the lab for sealing stuff...and in general)

Re: Sniffer Dog

Matter is mostly empty space...the space an atom claims as its own is much much smaller than that which needs to hold its mass based on pure density.

This means that all tho if you give it enough time the molecules will leak through eventually.

Wrapping can help, but it is only temporary till the universes tendancy for disorder takes over and pushes the volatile molecules out into the air and into the sniffer dogs nose.

You guys should check out Barry Cooper's Never get busted (it's in the archive, but as bittorrent download...i had no idea what bittorent is but downloading his video was worth my troubles).

Re: Sniffer Dog

PCP ends narco-dog's career.

In the suburbs of Boston police use the skills of narco dogs on a regular basis.
As a way to counter this problem a local gang "planted" small packets of MJ in shallow holes in a vacant lot known by police as a drug sourse.
Members of this gang laced the holes with pure PCP. When the narco-dogs alerted on the MJ the dog got a snoot full of pure PCP. This results in an animal that is out of control and even dangerous.
The police are now wondering what can be done to protect the dogs.

I'm not advocate of police...but I sure do not advocate harming an animal for any reason.

Prolly better off to hide it high up, dogs have trouble SWIM hears about sniffing things placed at a high point, rather than underground, where moisture and such is a problem.

Vacuum seal your material with gloves on. Then wash the outside of the bag and no scent will remain.

Re: Sniffer Dog

SWIM would attack the situation in a different way, dig a hole only deep enough to hide it from being seen by humans, but dig the hole somewhere where a sniffer dog wont be sniffing, ie under the hedge of a farmers field (of course only if your the farmer and it is SWIYs field)

Not true!
The only two things that will throw a dog off are: Cats and meat/dog treats They do this because the dog gets distracted! As has been stated in this thread more than once, given enough time the scent will get out enough for the dogs to detect. Dogs can detect different smells eg if you mix weed and coffee grounds they smell both the weed and the coffee grounds. Without destroying their nose or distracting them they'll find it.
Best of luck mate even though I know SWIY isn't doing anything illegal and has nothing to worry about.

Re: Sniffer Dog

Well getting back to researching Barry Cooper. Someone might try what SWIM saw in his DVD. Rub a plastic bag with weed in it over every surface possible in your house. So supposedly making it impossible for the dog to zero in to the actual stash. All the dog will smell is the microscopic traces of the weed everywhere and basicaly go crazy.

SWIM also saw that if someone had access to the waste leaves and stems to grind them into a powder and spread them all over your lawn for the same reasons. Though SWIM thought someone might even go further with this one an spread the powder all over their neighborhood.

DracoRincewind added 1 Minutes and 34 Seconds later...

Basically taking the hiding a tree in a forest approach.

Re: Sniffer Dog

Swim recommends just sealing the weed as airtight as possible and wrap it LOTS.

Besides, Swim has read after long enough, a smell can penetrate anything, even concrete. At least for dogs.

When Swim would pick up a half pound of regs, they would wrap it a few times over, and then spray the outside with Tag or some other body spray. Not saying Swim agrees with them, they were pretty dumb.

Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and they can do something with their noses that humans cannot. They can distinguish between almost every scent that comes to their nose. In this way, a dog smelling a mix of marijuana and coffee beans is not going to smell any kind of mix of that, it's going to smell (separately), marijuana, and coffee beans.

Many creatures have better senses than humans do, some having ones humans don't even posess.

As far as burying swiY's weed what's the point? Does swiY think that she is at risk of a dog coming to her house for some reason? If that's the point swiY shouldn't be trying to hide anything. JSswiYK when a house is raided for drugs they generally destroy walls, look for floor panels, all that anything to find any trace of drugs. Because once they have enough reason to raid they don't want to leave empty-handed. There is a very low chance they wouldn't find swiY's stash.

Swim knows somebody who had a nick sack in their locker at school. The dogs came to the high school for the first time ever, because of the growing 'drug problem'(ie most kids smoke pot), and the dogs went right by. They do miss stuff...but don't get swiy's hopes up.

swim heard that aniseed made 1 sniffer dog go a bit crazy once, maybe that 1 dog just loved aniseed. Maybe worth scattering aniseed in places to put the dog off the scent

If you read this thread you would realise this is another myth. Don't post myths or hearsay it doesn't help anyone.
This is bad advice with no in-depth backing information. Advice like this can end in tragedy for someone who might take it seriously.
