Health - LSD and family history of schizophrenia

swim's grandma has schizophrenia, so he has a small family history of it. swim wants to do acid really badly and is wondering if he shouldn't because of this. swim has no signs of developing schizophrenia but is a few years younger than the age that it starts to develop. swim appreciates any advice.

Caution would advise SWIY not to take LSD-- or to smoke marijuana heavily. There is no causal link between LSD and schizophrenia (or schizophrenia and cannabis) but it may be that:

Schizophrenia can sometimes be triggered by heavy use of hallucinogenic drugs, especially LSD; but it appears that one has to have a predisposition towards developing schizophrenia for this to occur. There is also some evidence suggesting that people suffering from schizophrenia but responding to treatment can have an episode as a result of use of LSD.

swim already smokes marijuana heavily, although is cutting down. swim has also done mushrooms about 20 times, ecstasy, dxm, salvia, and some other drugs. does this matter?

The subjective effects of LSD and mushrooms are similar but LSD lasts much longer. If SWIM has taken mushrooms 20 times, it seems unlikely that taking LSD once or twice, would make any difference but I am not an expert. Hopefully, SWIY is never going to suffer from schizophrenia.

Given that your marmoset has a family history of psychotic illness, it would be advisable to avoid ALL psychedelic drugs

swim agrees, swiy should not try it, mental illness is not something one should provoke
